100% that Mr. Truck Nuts tells that story in a way that he is the victim.

I saw one of these on the road today (near the VW/Audi/Porche dealer):

We had a Rabbit in this color in the 1970's.

I was not impressed for a > $200K sticker price.

That color should have stayed in the 70s.

Decided I wanted to trade my Crosstrek for an Outback about a month ago. Finally came in today and took delivery. Even going from a 19 to a 23 the advance in the tech and safety stuff was pretty huge.

My wife custom ordered a '24 Crosstrek for herself that is coming in early next month.

One thing I noticed on our recent vacation: The further south you drive, the greater the increase in American made muscle cars. Even saw a dude driving his wife's Mustang with the pink racing stripes.

Yeah, the amount of obnoxious Mustangs in Myrtle Beach is already too damn high. And now they can rev them remotely? Not good.

But man, I see a ton of Chargers and Challengers too. Handful of Camaros.

Re the Lambo SUV

There are about maybe half a dozen or so that I see on the regular, one of which is that day-glow yellow. Another is Act II Hamilton green. One is white. The others are more sensible darker tones. Whatever color, they are one of the ugliest things I have ever seen in person. They look like a Transformer toy that a 7-year old was playing with and they didn't know how to transform it from robot mode correctly and so it they just bashed it into a roughly car-shaped lump and called it a day.

I personally think that car colors these days are almost uniformly dull and boring, so I'm not going to fault someone for buying a bright color. I will fault someone for buying such a stupid vehicle, however.

lmao - my wife wants a minivan and I'm checking them out just now. In what world, is a mini-van worth $60K NEW? That is an absurdity.

Car prices are way overinflated right now. I don't know if there is still a chip shortage, but car dealers used the scarcity that brought and pumped up the prices to the absurd levels they are right now. It has to come crashing down at some point. And when it does, dealerships will be begging for people to buy their cars. I'm hoping that happens in about 2 years when I'll be in the market for a new car. Most likely it will happen sooner, probably within a year.

We paid $32K for our mid trim level Odyssey back in 2008. I see two '23 Odysseys available here locally for $47K, fwiw. Also, a CR-V for just under $40K. WTF?

That dealership sent my wife an offer to trade her '22 Accord in for a '23 and drop the payment by $7 a month. I guess they are still starved for used cars.

Yea, I won the lottery on my truck before covid, but I think I'm gonna get smoked here because we need a bigger car, like within the next 5 months before kid 2 comes. This POS CX-5 is just too small, and a second kid can't sit behind me.

I don't like it, but it makes sense. I'm 6'4 so any midsize SUV is out, and full-size SUVs are likely too gigantic for her to feel comfortable being a daily driver. I've also been full-time driver for the last 5 years because her CX-5 is ****.

How old is your first born? Are they ready to be forward facing?

That was a big eye opener for us when we were getting ready for #2. Realized that a rear facing car seat had no business being behind the driver's seat when I was driving. Couldn't even get comfortable in either of our sedans with the car seat rear facing on the passenger side.

It was "fun" shopping for cars with an empty car seat that we had to install every single time. Took a lot of effort but we've been happy with our choices. Of course, this was 2015 when the car market still made sense.

By the time we get our next cars, we'll most likely be down to 1 booster seat.

As indicated in my last post, we were searching in 2015, but I'm the same height as you. We ruled out many mid-sized SUVs due to my height, and had it narrowed down to the Toyota Highlander and the Chevy Traverse. Went with the Traverse due to the captain seats in the middle row and are very glad we went that route now that we have 3 kids. Keeps them all separated. When we have to take the Camry and all 3 are squeezed in the back, it's like wrestle mania back there.

Reminds me that @Tomas is about that height and was doing some of the same searching a couple years ago. Wonder if he's still poking around here?

My sister-in-law has a CX-5 and loves it - but it's a European version, as she lives in Sweden. What's wrong with yours? She has a 2018 model IIRC.

I just bought an Outback at MSRP with no addons..wife is getting her Crosstrek next week also MSRP no addons.

It seems especially crazy though with certain models as far as markups go. Interest rates also suck right now, but we got good rates through our Credit Union (at least as good as you can get right now).
