Lance Corporal is an E-3 in the USMC. "One stripe up, no stripes down, E-3 Sir!"
USAF isn't military so that's okay.

I wish. Carbon Black, which is black but with navy blue flake so it was like wearing black pants with a navy blazer. What color? (Phoenix Yellow pls)
Phoenix Yellow or LSB would have been jamming. I still miss my E36 more though, if I ever go back down that road its Daytona Violet or nothing.

Got a call from Mrs K this morning. Her Mazda had the CEL come on (and flash) on her way to work - running rough and no power. Told her not to drive it and read the codes when I picked her up. P0301 - misfire cylinder #1. Cleared it and went for a short test drive. Came right back on, and I read another P0301. Parked it and I'll try to deal with it in the next few days. Really hoping it just needs new spark plugs or a coil...

Does that Mazda have a coil pack that extends into the cylinder? If that's the issue, I hope you don't have to go digging to get it out.

Yeah, it's a coil-on-plug setup. Watched a couple vids last night, doesn't look too bad. Need to remove the engine cover and the intercooler.Does that Mazda have a coil pack that extends into the cylinder? If that's the issue, I hope you don't have to go digging to get it out.

Oh, it's not bad if the coil didn't burn out and effectively melt into the tube walls like mine did. Removing the intercooler to get to it, though? Dafuq?Yeah, it's a coil-on-plug setup. Any recommendations for non Subaru teenager appropriate AWD sedans?
Granted it could be just the car but we bought a 2009 Legacy for my oldest to use and it has been nothing but a $ pit, although I think we have it to the point where it's in great shape- because frankly it's mostly new. Bought it for $9,000 but I bet we are up to $17,000 into it now.
Tried to explain to the wife that it's a 10 year old car with 90,000 miles on it (7/75,000 when we bought it) and it will have issues but she's not really into buying another Subie. Part of the hesitation is it had to have head gasket replaced which was a big part of what we sunk into it. Should have maybe made a deal with Day Apollo for something different then rather than repairing but who knows. Apparently this is a common problem but Subaru fixed around 2011 - wifey is still hesitant.
Legacy is going to college with oldest in the fall so thinking about buying one for middle to use. Looking probably around $13-14k this time to hopefully mitigate spending more on maintenance later.
Found an AWD Taurus, 2014 with 51k for $14k Certified with a 1 yr 12k mile warranty but wife believes it is too big #TWSS

You could always look at 5-7 year old Volvo S60s. Those are AWD and should be under that $14k price range. I don't know how much those cost to maintain, however. That should be a pretty big factor in your decision.

2014+ AWD Buick Regals are going a little higher than that, you can get a CPO for under 18K, but I'd recommend...Any recommendations for non Subaru teenager appropriate AWD sedans?

That's an idea- I have a good reasonable mechanic up the street, but if the parts are $$$$$ it's definitely a factor. You could always look at 5-7 year old Volvo S60s. Had similar code. Swap coil from one cylinder to another and see if code follows the coil.Got a call from Mrs K this morning. There's always snow tires for the winter and that would expand what you're looking for.

Looking for some takes here. This is the Carfax for a used vehicle with 6,735 miles on it. Here is the summarized timeline from Carfax:
08/16/2018 (In Michigan) Title issued or updated 10 miles
11/21/18 (In florida) Maintenance inspection (4,626 miles)
2/27/19 (In PA) Dealer takes title to vehicle. (6,700 miles)
So the car has low mileage. But 6,000 miles in 6.5 months spanning multiple states.
I guess 6,000 in 6.5 months isn't bad, but does that seem like a weird chain of events
Note: it is certified pre owned

CPO brings no actual value to the table. They are not required nor do they usually bother conducting any extra inspection for the car. The only reason to pay more for CPO is if it comes with extra warranty coverage.

New battery will give electric cars over 600 miles of range
A new first-of-its-kind rechargeable battery will give electric cars a range of more than 600 miles on a single charge.
Innolith AG – a company that specialises in inorganic battery technology – is developing what it claims will be the world’s first 1,000Wh/kg (watt-hour per kilogram) rechargeable battery, allowing electric cars to travel for up to 1,000km (621 miles) before having to recharge.
Not only does the high density battery have the potential to all but eliminate range anxiety, but it will also reduce the costs associated with battery production due to the fact it doesn’t require the use of what Innolith calls “exotic and expensive materials”.

Isn't that the entire point of the 'certified' designation? The only reason to pay more for CPO is if it comes with extra warranty coverage.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
No. The marketing value of a CPO certification is that the car is supposedly subject to a rigorous multipoint inspection where deficiencies are corrected before the car is presented for sale. It simply does not happen, thoug.. It gets the same treatment as any pre-owned car. So if you pay a premium for CPO make sure you get something back in value that you can see, like an extended warranty.
