It might be "old dealer gives title to auction place" and "auction place gives title to new dealer"

I wasn’t sure what sort of gymnastics occur with those sorts of things

I wouldn't doubt it. I'm not 100% but seems very plausible

I’ve never purchased a car from a place like this before - I’ve always had a negative connotation about them before which i think is part of the mental hurdle I am trying to clear. Also the ‘damage’ is a little alarming

and after doing some research it seems that they are a subprime financing company/dealer. we are going to pay cash so more just concerned with the overall reliability with the vehicle

Anyone ever buy a vehicle from Drive Time? Always seemed a little sketchy; I have only purchased pre owned vehicles from dealers. Looking at a 2015 lexus suv with 54k miles. The car fax is a little hit and miss. It was sold about 18 months later as a certified vehicle with 22k miles. In 17 it has damaged reported to rear, left front, left rear and left side. It doesn’t say accident on the carfax just damage. It was then driven by that owner for 20k more miles and was then sold at an auction on 11/6/18 then sold at auction again on 11/13. It’s had 70 miles on it since then and was listed for sale thru drive time last week. Is this hisorry concerning that it was sold twice in a short period of time at auctions? Not sure if that is common practice
Check r/askcarsales on reddit - they're usually pretty helpful with this kind of question.

Question for any Subaru peeps: how concerned should I be w/r/t head gasket issues on Subarus? This comes up again and again in everything I read. I test drove a Forester the other night. I asked the salesman about it - he said Subaru has been "working on rectifying the problem." He pretty much told me - "If the issue comes up, you just replace the head gasket. If you get the extended warranty, it should be covered!" Uh....that's not the ideal answer for me. Anyone have any insights?

I’m not familiar with the issue, but “should be” is not what I would want to hear. Replacing a head gasket is not cheap.

It shouldn't be a huge deal if you catch it in time. If you neglect to change it out quickly the head will warp and then you're talking new motor time. Your offer should reflect the risk you're taking here. But then it's true for most (all?) Subaru's so it may already be baked into the value sought by the dealer.

Impressive, but not worth the time setting that up when you can rent a cherry picker for $50/day or less...

Don't think that thing will even come out through the top without completely stripping it. Supposed to be dropped out the bottom.

I don't see how Tesla competes and survives, much less grows, against the likes of VW who is going all out with electric cars with prices similar to their now unavailable diesel cars. Maybe if they move all production to China.

If anyone is wondering, Tesla did want to call their second car the "Model E," but that name is already trademarked by Ford.

Kinda comparing apples to crabapples, or to say it another way, a Chevy Cruze to a top-of-the-line Mercedes. Most people in the market for a Tesla wouldn't even look at a VW.

The $35K car is not a luxury car, is it?

I doubt they sell many $35k cars. Averaging in options, most Tesla 3's will be closer to $50k
