I don't much about full self driving. Can you get on the highway, set the speed for say 85mph and play on your phone while the car drives?

I think at the moment it's on ramp to off ramp. City driving was coming. I'm not sure what exactly the difference is in auto pilot vs full self driving

Sure. So long as you are okay with tbe outcome when it fails to recognize a white merging semi-truck as a tangible object.

Auto pilot seems like lane keep and adaptive cruise

Full self driving will pass cars and navigate for you

I guess that is my main question. On the highway, do you use a gas pedal, let the car determine a speed or set the speed at whatever you want?

I don't think I could ever use the autopilot feature, regardless of its age and record.

Agreed. Wouldn't be able to trust it.

My only beef with the CX5, although this could apply to any car with similar tech, is that you can't use a lot of the features (i.e. setting up or editing Bluetooth connections) while the car is moving. Especially when I am the passenger (or my wife is) and we can't use it. Should be a disclaimer as opposed to completely locking out features, especially because it's not going to stop people from looking at their phones.

My boss was just complaining about this the other day when we went to lunch (in his new CX-5). He mentioned the touchscreen is disabled completely while driving and you have to use the big knob down on the center console.

Far as I know, actually adding a bluetooth device is disabled in almost every vehicle while it's moving.

Self driving will only be 99.9% safe once EVERY vehicle on the road is self driving.
Which will be a while, if ever.

Yep. On a related note, I'm not a fan of the knob-controlled navi units. Touchscreen is superior.

I'm surprised that they held off for so long. Everyone else moved to those damn knobs nearly a decade ago.

Source of the post I really think you should look into a CR-V
Probably want to avoid the turbo 4-cylinder for now, since it has two major issues associated with it, including oil in the gas.

Is it oil in the gas or gas in the oil? From what I've read, a not-uncommon known issue with turbocharged and direct-injected engines is piston blowby, which can result in fuel contamination/dilution for the oil. That's why a lot of those types of engines (such as the one I have in my Kia Forte5) often have shorter oil-change intervals than non-turbo engines.
It's gas leaking into the oil. Honda is working on a fix, but I don't believe it's ready yet. I'm drawing a blank on the other issue, but I know there is one.
is this for all 4 cylinder turbo or just the honda product?

Not as in taking them out of existing cars, but from future models. Only the big dial going forward.
I guess they figure the cost and complexity isn't worth it when it's only on when the car is parked.

oh, that makes sense. I just don't get why they dont allow them to be used when on the road. It's SAFER to look at the dash, than down at (essentially) the floor to turn the dial.

The big dial in mazda sucks. Give me the touch-screen.
