Good news: Car was able to be jumped, so it's either the alternator or battery.

Went to start my car this morning, and it wouldn't even attempt to turn over. Still have juice to power the lights, radio, etc. Gotta see if I can roll it out of the garage and jump it later.
The worst.

I bought one of these for my wife (and later me) a few years ago, and it's already paid off once.

I'm tracking the price of this one and will snag it when it goes back down to $67, which it appears to do every few months. :thumb:

My Dad was singing the praises of one of those. It jumped my V10 van which had been sitting outside unused for about two months.

Good to hear. It's going to be a convenience purchase for me even though I don't really need it. If it turns out to be the battery, this will be my 3rd DuraLast Gold battery in 5 years. The only reason I'm even considering AutoZone again is because I'm still within the full replacement warranty timeframe.

A few things to note:

a) AutoZone's battery warranty is ****. My original battery from them lasted 2 years, and I had it replaced. They don't warranty the replacement the same way, so it's basically out of warranty now ($1.98 prorated)

b) Both my battery (12.88v) and alternator tested fine. WTF? That's all I want to deal with now, a phantom power issue. My radio/GPS was locked when I jumped the car, so it very clearly lost all power at some point. Terminals are both very secure, so I don't think it's a bad connection, either

I confirmed AutoZone's scanner findings with my own multimeter. 12.66v off, 14.24v on with lights, radio, etc. Totally normal.

How are the leads? Sometimes they get corroded and need a little cleaning

I bought one of the portable jump starters a couple years ago. Had to use it once at a car show. Worked great. Hard to believe something that small can supply enough juice to fire up an old V8. this is the one I got.

I have this jumper from Harbor Freight. Works well, and has a compressor, too.

Getting a combo charger/pump is going down a rabbit hole. I'll grab one of the really small jumpers, but will stop there.

I have a really nice Schumacher jumper/air compressor/USB/12V unit that I love. I've had it since 2012 and it's still kicking. I use it to operate my half-lift which runs on a 12v hydraulic pump. It's awesome.

I bought a Halo when my Miata's battery died on me over a long, cold night. Turns out the battery is from 2012 and needs replaced anyways, but going forward there's never a wrong time to have cables and a charger ready.

109.99 minus a 25.00 coupon minus an additional 56.00 in amazon points credit helped out a lot too.

I love that every company displays a different standard. mAh, mwh, etc.

My local shop is no longer open on Saturday, which was basically their oil change day. I guess I'll be going back to Acura for oil changes since they'll wash my car for me and I won't have to inconvenience my wife by taking her truck.

25 cents off advantage pay in Washington today. I guess it's YMMV really.

Yeah, as nice as it is having them basically in the neighborhood that was our last trip to them. My wife has a friend that owns an inspection station a few miles away, we'll just go there from now on.
He passed away suddenly on Friday. :(

My wife managed to hit a garbage can so hard with her truck that the mirror smashed apart. Not paying $265 for a new one, so I’ll make my first trip to a junk yard this week. Can’t beat $35.

U-Pull-It yard in Penn Hills is fantastic. I will probably be there Saturday scavenging Neon odds and ends.

I don’t think this is a u pull it yard, but I’m not sure. It looks like a really small yard in a residential neighborhood.

Edit: Yeah, based on Google Maps, there’s no way this is a u pick it. Basically no room in there.

If they don't have it, check out https://upullandpay.com/pittsburgh/home/

Every vehicle is listed on the site, most with pictures. For a mirror you can probably see the part online given it is outside of the vehicle. I got a nice set of tow mirrors for my van there.

Parts list is flat rate and online as well.
