So I clipped a truck mirror on my way to camp Friday with my camper. I told the guy just let me know how much and I'll pay you. He sends me a link today of a mirror for like a top of the **** line silverado high country and he has a base model. So I told him are you sure that's right, he swears it is. Like a $375 mirror vs a $200 mirror. I told him I'd order it for him and now he's back pedaling. Why are people such dicks? I could've literally drove away. But I left my number and now he's taking advantage of me trying to make an extra $175. FFS man. People suck. I told him I'd rather take it to an auto body shop with him and get an actual quote now. Well see what he says in reply. I am 99% sure he's taking advantage of me.

Agreed with this approach 100%.

He was cool at first and said no worries, he would install it himself. Which, I know they're not that tough to install. Either way, I'm going to get a receipt from him that I gave him $$. Of course he doesn't even know my last name unless he got my plate. All he has is my phone number.

A long time ago, a coworker hit my car in the parking lot, and basically destroyed the front bumper cover. This was a 92 Eclipse, so it's not like the bumper cover was actually expensive - in fact, it was pretty cheap. The guy gave me such a hassle, and insisted on having his buddy do all of the work. Refused to let me just get a quote from a shop to do the work. So I gave up and called my insurance and let them handle it. His insurance paid for the work that was under $500, and he was pissy about it afterwards. I gave you the chance, man. Not my fault you can't back into a spot with your extended cab pickup.

He sent me a screenshot of the order before he hit confirm for a "total". He's totally yanking me around. I just asked him to confirm if that's the correct one and that once I pay him the $375 the matter will be considered resolved. We're communicating in text. So I have receipts. And I'll ask him to sign a paper stating I paid him, or ask if he'd take a check so I have a paper trail.

Just called my wife's uncle and he said $300-350 to order and install (what I believe to be the correct) mirror.

I'm just paying him the $375 he's asking for and getting him to sign a paper stating the matter's resolved. Hopefully he gets pulled over for having a broken mirror and gets a ticket.

I saw my first and perhaps last Rivian SUV in town today. Not bad looking. I know there are a couple of pickups in town, but this was the first SUV.

I saw a Mustang Mach E yesterday. I don't like it. It looks like a Mustang just got really fat.

I was walking my dog yesterday, and heard this beeping sound, like a box truck backing up. Turns out it was a Kia Sportage/Sorento PHEV. If this gets to be the norm for vehicles, it will eventually turn out like the honks/beeping from car alarms where everyone just starts to ignore them.

Yup. They are actively nullifying one of the best benefits of EVs. Super annoying.

I want to that that EVs are now legally required to produce some sort of noise at low speeds. I think the feds were worried that blind people were getting run over in parking lots.

I'd totally want my EV to make the Jetsons car noise.

I know the EV Chargers and Challengers will have V8 rumbling/revving sounds coming from them. I'm cool with that.

The vast majority of the sound coming from vehicles is tire noise. Adding beep-boops is just needless noise pollution.

Wasn't it done for safety reasons so that you could hear an EV approaching? My neighbor's hybrid RAV4 has something like that, but it sounds like some awful shrieking woman.

Yes, but again, tire noise. You can hear a bicycle coming with your eyes closed, too. Particularly if you're blind and used to assessing your surroundings with your remaining senses.

My hybrid Maverick makes an obnoxious beeping noise when backing up. Sounds like a submarine or something lol

I love my aftermarket wheels, but **** hell is that alloy soft. On my second set thanks to potholes in this area, and one of them is bent enough to cause a lot of vibration. At least the shop nearby can repair it for $125 and have it done that day.

They're pretty frequent here north of Pittsburgh and I have to admit, I do like the look of those, more than their trucks.

How do you like the Mav? I will be looking at a small pickup in the next year or two and I've been considering the AWD option.

I love it. I always wanted a small pickup and it fills all my needs nicely. So nice to have the bed for yardwork/my hockey stuff. 38 MPGs is a nice little bonus too.

Only negative is that they are basically impossible to just buy from a dealer due to markups, so you will have to custom order and wait for them to build. If you have any other questions or anything shoot me a message

Tweedling basically. My sister's Yota is like that also
