I've been looking at trucks, I'll never spend 25K+ on used F150 with 60K+ miles on it. That's obscene.
Kills me, I sold my 11 f150 for 23500 in 2014 with 31k miles. That exact truck is selling (listing) for the same price today

One of my old bosses is 65 (and a grandmother) and she and her husband are taking racing lessons. That's pretty awesome.

It's just BS, and most of the trucks are huge. There's like 2 mid-size trucks. Tacoma/Colorado. There's nothing in between really from an SUV and a full-size.

We were just talking yesterday about this too. I think it's because the truck market is no longer for working guys. Everyone buys a truck now, and I think it's because of their relativity in pricing to SUVs. I can buy a Ford Explorer for almost the same as an F-150. The only advantage the explorer has over the truck is 2 extra seats - otherwise the truck compares or beats it in every category.. fuel efficiency, features, function, towing capacity, etc.

Why doesn't Ford make the Ranger any longer?

And maybe because I'm in the south where every other car on the road is a truck, it seems like pickups are daily drivers for non-working guys (although many of them double for work trucks).

I started pricing Tahoes, but at $50K+ for a new one with incentives (including the GM family member discount I can get through my brother's father-in-law, who worked at GM for 30 years), it's a little bit more than what I would spend on a GM product. A Silverado with similar options runs about $35K, which makes more sense for a lot of people.

It's very odd. My upstairs neighbor's truck doesn't have a speck of dust on it. he NEVER hauls anything. Whatever, but it seems like poor consumer behavior.

Light trucks are not cost effective to produce in the states (not enough demand to overcome the cost) and the Chicken Tax makes them prohibitively expensive for companies to import them for sale.

The Ranger is coming back but it's going to be a Colorado sized body-on-frame pickup like the rest of Fords lineup.

Lotus SUV is due to be developed soon, they were bought by the same Chinese company that revitalized Volvo.

A case study on how to get as little utility out of a truck as possible. The cab is bigger than the bed.

That's an instant non-consideration if it looks like that.

YIL; you don't even need the set screws that hold the rotors on. This I learned after two of them broke off during brake/rotor replacement, and I dicked around with trying to repair them for 2+ hours.

I feel for you, having gone through this routine last year. One of the set screws was stripped, and I couldn't remove it. Had to take it to my local shop and have them use an air chisel on the entire rotor (was replacing the rotors, anyway). Those things will never, ever be used on my car again.

Yep, pain in the ass. Thankfully, they weren't hardened screws, and I was able to drill them out. Wasted my time going to buy new ones, though.

Plenty of tread left on my wife's BFG Advantage T/A, but given how much the car slid over the road on our drive home today, they're going in the trash once I order new tires today. Total garbage.

Did you consider having them siped?

Honestly, no. The tires are four years old now, and I’m extremely hesitant to go against manufacturer recommendations (against siping) when it comes to tires.

I have General Altimax Arctic winter tires on my TL right now that I love, so I bought the all-season version for her CR-V.

Good call. Tires which are that old would not respond well to that at all.
