Put a new windshield on the van today. The tech said someone did a lame repair job with glue and it was about ready to fall out. Seems legit since I could hear air rushing in when driving and water would flow in when I would come to a stop in the rain.
That's exactly how my old Nova was when I first got it.

Our 2003 Malibu windshield was really strange. If it was really cold outside, you would get small puffs of super-fine snow falling inside from the top passenger corner. Never any discernible air flow or other leakage, just those puffs of snow.

That's peculiar.

Unfortunately my headliner is trash because of it and I fear the water got into the fuse box as I have been having weird electrical issues. Lost all my dome lights, for instance. And my back up beeper now just shrieks, which I am certain my neighbors love.

My Pittsburgh floor jack arrived today. For under $90, it appears to be really well built. They weren't kidding about the "rapid pump" description. I may be able to get the car completely in the air in 3 pumps.

Drove my Jeep to work today for the first time in like 6 months. Forgot how much of a rougher ride it is on the highway even. Feelsgoodman.jpg

I know very little about tires, and I need some advice.

Our Honda Pilot (2016 EX-L) has about 27,000 miles, and the original factory installed tires are almost gone. It looks like Tirerack.com users universally dislike my original tires:
https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp? ... dClar=EX-L

Now, my original tires have 105H rating. It seems that 105V rating comes with a nice price discount at tirerack (e.g. Michelin 105H costs $280 per tire, but 105V costs about $200: https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp? ... dClar=EX-L or https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp? ... dClar=EX-L )

So my question is: since our car is not used for "racing", but it is primarily a "daycare-taxi" , should I be still concerned about "H" vs. "V"?

Thanks!

Long story short, not at all. And IMO, if you’re thinking of buying tires from them, look elsewhere beforehand. Their prices aren’t great anymore, and I’ve purchased multiple sets from both tirebuyer.com and simpletire.com in the past because of that. You can also routinely find coupon codes for those sites.

Not really. The H and V are speed ratings, and both H and V are already ratings for performance-oriented tires that are almost certainly excessive for a family vehicle (unless you'll be taking the kids to daycare using the autobahn).

I would note there might be a difference in tread life. The tires in your second link have a UTQG treadwear rating of 620, but the tires in the third link have a UTQG treadwear rating of 440. The UTQG number is an inexact number that roughly measures how quickly a tire wears. The higher the number, the more resistant the tire is to wear. Generally, the higher the speed rating of a tire (which usually directly correlates to how high of a performance tire it is), the lower the treadwear one gets, because for tires the main tradeoff of better grip is higher wear. That appears to be reflected in the lower number for the third tire. So you might have a lower purchase cost for those tires up front, but the tires might wear out faster than the other ones.

CAPE HATTERAS NATIONAL SEASHORE, N.C.
A man drove a Dodge Viper onto the beach last week and soon bogged down in the sand. All the revving of engine and spinning of tires could not get him out again.

'Tis the off-season, when the Outer Banks beaches are largely free from people, turtles and shore birds. Driving on the sand can be less difficult and stressful by following a few rules.

First, don’t drive a sports car onto the beach, said Boone Vandzura, chief ranger for the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

“You don’t want to end up in the newspaper,” he said.

It takes a special kind of stupid to drive a car like that onto the beach.

What a maroon.

My dad and I drove our Jeep on the beach near there, back when I was in high school. Seems silly, but it was a pretty cool experience.

No, but that sounds fantastic. I'm a member (lurker) of the Red Drum Tackle Shop forum and these things pop up on there fairly often.

I found that particular story on a sports car racing forum, though.

The only vehicle I’ve ridden on a beach is a horse. One of the best experiences I’ve had

Back around 2000 or so they had what they claimed was the world's longest seafood buffet. It's gone now.

If these images are accurate, the 2019 Supra looks better than I had expected.
