Isn't that your wife? The girl I dated through high school had an Aspire. You can get a lot done in there.

No. I dated the same girl all through high school, but the girl was in college. I was friends with my wife in high school and a few months after my graduation it fizzled out with the college girl and I started dating my wife. My wife was a year behind me.
My wife taught me you can get a lot done in a 3-series.

Let's spice it up a bit. My best slip (left lane), in my GSX @ 16psi.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
Nice 60’ time! I had a 92 Laser 6/4 combo in blue. Too lazy to go find my slips, host them, to post them. Best was 10.9/131. John Shepard transmission/tc (after twisting/breaking output shaft of tc too many times). DSMlink piggyback, 1150 FIC injectors, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Holset HX40 turbo (), fmic/hardpipes, eagle rods/wiseco pistons, wideband o2 in 3” turbo back stainless exhaust, BC cams, springs, Ti retainers, 1mm os TiCN coated valves, faded paint, temperamental beast. Loved/hated that thing. Oh, since I was a dick back then, I vented blowoff to atmosphere, ran 26 psi. Head gaskets hated it.Let's spice it up a bit. My best slip (left lane), in my GSX @ 16psi.

Definitely a DSM owner. And I'm glad to find somebody who spent more money on his than I did mine. Met Shepard a few times at the track - always a nice guy, and his cars absolutely flew. I've seen Buschur race once or twice, as well.Source of the post Loved/hated that thing.
For the life of me, I can't remember the guy's name who basically built my GSX. He was a big 4G63 guy, had his car in a few magazines, etc. Pretty sure it was a Galant VR4. At any rate, this was all on a Big 16G... which was nice, but I kinda regret not going with something like a Green back in the day.

**** hell, I just went back and found my mods list. This hurts my wallet even today.
Cars & Bikes, Driving & Riding
My mom had a Laser. It was bright red and she got way too many tickets with it. Cried when she traded it in.
I think it was the first car she had with an airbag.
My grandma owned two different Celebrities. So I have a stupid soft spot on the very rare occasion I see one.

Damned money pit, but still the fastest car I’ve driven. It was violent, but when it ran, it ran like a raped ape. 534 on the dump will do that. RRE/Buschur! Blasts from the past. Shep was a good guy who is a genius on transmissions. I was pretty active on columbusdsm.com back then. Only reason it’s gone is passing 5.0 going other way when doing third gear pulls on straight backroad tends to get one in trouble. Didn’t get got, but they knew the car. Parted it out and sold out that weekend for 76 911 w/blown motor, which I REALLY wish I still had.

Yeah, tickets are the #1 reason I got rid of mine. I also got tired of a manual in Philly traffic. I think I miss the sound of a turbo more than anything else these days, and would love to get something with one again. Acura kinda killed that for me, though.

Cars I drove but did not ownMy list in order of purchase:
Ford Aspire (can't recall the model year)
93 Audi 90 Quattro
93 Jeep Grand Cherokee
99 Ford Mustang
09 (I think) Kia Sportage
13 Jeep Wrangler
85 Ford Escort
78 Dodge Monaco
Cars I owned
88 Ford Festiva. Bought while in the navy. Did not know much about car maintenance, so I may or may not have gone 20k without an oil change in this car, all while driving it up and down the east coast. When the oil was finally changed, a friend of mine said it "poured like cold maple syrup."
86 BMW 325. Probably not my smartest buy as a 23 year old kid soon to be without a job. How does that phrase go, "the most expensive car is a cheap luxury car?" Was fun for two years, then the electronics went, then the transmission went. Oops.
85 Chevy Citation. Before you ask how does one go from a BMW to a Citation, I used this car when I was doing rural mail delivery when I was still in school. Hearing how rural delivery chews up cars brakes and transmissions, I wasn't subjecting the BMW to that, even if it was 10 years old and had it's own issues.
87 Ford T-bird/88 GMC Jimmy/94 Ford Ranger/98 GMC Jimmy. Every one of these leaked fluid, or in some cases leaked more than one type of fluid. I think the 88 Jimmy may have even checked three of those boxes: leaked coolant, power steering fluid, and gas if you filled it past 3/4. At one point I think the brake line leaked too and it definitely reeked of hockey equipment.
00 Subaru Forester. Loved this car and it felt unstoppable in the winter but the rust did a number on the underside. Might even go as far as saying it was my 2nd favorite Subaru despite having zero options.
04 Jeep Liberty, aka the deer hunter. Hit two different deer with this one. Even prior to the deer, it was surprisingly terrible in the winter.
09 Subaru Legacy. Would have kept it much longer except somebody rear ended me on the Green Tree onramp and it never drove the same.
09 Audi A4. Six months later, somebody hit me on the same onramp, probably within ten feet of where the Legacy was rearended. Neither time was I approaching the parkway and decided to stop. Was at a full stop both times. This time somebody hit me hard enough to bend the frame, give me random warning lights on the console and concussion number... something.
13 Subaru Impreza. Hated this car. Had starter issues within six months of buying it. Took it to four different dealerships and none would replace it because "well it's not doing it. It starts right up cold or warm."
13 BMW 328. Really nothing to say about this car except it was reliable and when I took it in for service that they treated me like a superstar despite not going to that specific dealership.
17 BMW 228. Probably my favorite car of the bunch when it ran properly. Warranty was coming up on it and it was starting to have some issues. The transmission failure alert outside of Bedford where I had to drive that thing in limp mode for 30 miles might have been the point of no return for me.
17 Subaru Outback. Liked the car when I bought it, then realized it had zero power.
20 Subaru Outback Onyx. Current car. This upgrade allowed for another 120 hp, a hell of a lot more options, and a lower payment. Yay buying cars early into the pandemic.
02 Mazda Miata
I feel like I'm missing a truck and an additional car somewhere on that list.

This happened to us with our 535xi. Same place, taking Rt. 30 from Breezewood to Latrobe. After the first few hills it went into limp mode, gave us like 130hp to get that boat of a chassis up and down the ridges.

We thought it was a twin-turbo issue. Turned out to be the spark plugs, go figure.

Not too shabby... we just paid off the forester, so as long as we can go without a new car payment, we will.

11 Jetta TDI (made money on this one, thanks VDub)
98 Ram 12v Cummins
14 Cherokee
18 Ram Cummins
18 Expedition Max (just brought this home today. )
Welp,I've had a lot of cars. Towards the latter half, they were copurchases with my wife. But we drove them both equally.
My favorites were definitely the 03 Accord (sold it with 339k miles), the 12v Cummins - sooo much power in this truck and had the NV4500 in it, and the TDI. Prior to covid I was looking to get back into a TDI but the mileage I was putting on was the only reason.

'03 Hyundai Elantra GT
'15 Kia Forte5 GT
My mother and grandparents had a practice of not buying anything new until a prior car was well and truly driven into the ground, and I think you can see that I've adopted that practice as well. I probably won't buy as many cars in my entire life as dodint has bought in the last five years.

We plan to keep the MINI until it collapses into a pile of dust.
My numbers are inflated by hobby cars. I owned a Mustang for one summer. And the SRT-4 for a few months. Both were only used for racing, but were titled and plated.
