So the $30K was for a base model LX, plus LoJack (so they can disable your car if you default on your loan/lease, not primarily for your tracking usage), the Pulse brakelight system (turns your solid brake lights to uh pulsing, which is a cool safety feature), and the good ol' paint protection package.
So I've got pricing requests in to two other dealerships in my region that have LXs on the lot. We'll see what they have to say...

If you talk to the manager they'll knock a couple hundred dollars off of that true coat.So the $30K was for a base model LX, plus LoJack (so they can disable your car if you default on your loan/lease, not primarily for your tracking usage), the Pulse brakelight system (turns your solid brake lights to uh pulsing, which is a cool safety feature), and the good ol' paint protection package.

Just curious why you paint protect a Honda. I just sold my 18 year old 339k mile one I never washed and there wasn't a spot of rust on it. I can see paint protecting like a corvette or something but not a daily driverm

Heard back from a dealer near Beaufort. LX for $28500, drive off the lot price. No add ons or other BS. Even offered to deliver it to us ($200).
The other dealer called and wanted me to stop by and look at other models, as the LX is still in transit. Couldn't give me a price yet, but she'll call back when the car gets on the lot.
This whole thing is bonkers. Beaufort is under 3 hours away, and the other is about 90 minutes away. I'm not going to drive to kick imaginary tires and fill out financing stuff. The Beaufort guy wants me to call and can get all of that done by phone, not sure what these other clowns are up to.

Sounds like an impromptu vacation to HHI is required.

Good thing it's a Rav4 Prime or else that price might be outrageous.

I saw that the other day. Apparently, that particular dealership has a habit or doing stuff like that.

I just noticed the nitro fill. That's air.
Nitrogen fill for tires is a negligible benefit for street cars. It has more to do with uniform and predictable expansion of air (and subsequent air pressure) in race car tires.

Bad enough that it's on the sheet, even worse that it's $500. If I didn't know any better, I'd have called the sticker a fake just to **** with people.

Isn't nitro fill usually about 10% of their listed cost?I just noticed the nitro fill. That's air.

I’m having Fast and Furious 1-3 flashbacks now.

So what if I sneak on the lot at night and let the air out? Can I get $500 knocked off the price?Isn't nitro fill usually about 10% of their listed cost?I just noticed the nitro fill. That's air.

They bump it up to 1000 because they had to follow the tires twice

I've never heard of people buying cars with LoJack installed at a premium. Is this like a new thing?

That was something that came with our Pilot, at the time it was branded "Kahu." It's just an easier way for the repo man to find you if you don't make car payments.

Do they sell the service as "We'll disable your car if it's stolen?"That was something that came with our Pilot, at the time it was branded "Kahu." It's just an easier way for the repo man to find you if you don't make car payments.

I always heard that was what LoJack was, I just never heard it sold as a thousand dollar option lol

Oh no, that's not even mentioned. I read that on Jalopnik about six months after I bought the car.Do they sell the service as "We'll disable your car if it's stolen?"That was something that came with our Pilot, at the time it was branded "Kahu." This car **** gives me a headache. Calls into two other dealerships with LXs showing on their websites as being on the lot. They don't actually have the cars, or are already pre-sold. The Honda.com inventory page says one thing, the dealership page says another.

Update on this: that specific car sold, then another sold, then I finally negotiated the price down on a different one and was all but ready to sign. The seller then tells me that it's about a 15 week wait because of shipping delays worldwide. That kinda turned me off a little, but I needed a night to think about it. Like I expected delays, but maybe 4-6 weeks and not a full season.Suzuki Cappuccino.Hah, nice. AZ-1?
Turns out that same night I cracked a tooth and the eventual dental visit found a second with a crack. So a few root canals later along with a hefty dental bill since high deductible insurance sucks, I've decided to put this on hold for a bit.
Somewhat of an additional plus: this means the 1997 models will soon be available to ship to the US.

A friend of mine and I were thinking of going in together on a TVR Cerbera since they're now in the import window. Common sense prevailed for us as well.
