Probably because of my age and being stupid, but gimme a sedan. Or maybe I should just say a car.

Just want to point out that according to that infographic I am a 1%'er.

The last sedan I owners was an Audi 90, which was ridiculously fun to drive. Also ridiculously expensive to keep running. I still miss it, but I drive like a granny now so it would be wasted on me.

My bias is ingrained in my family, which mostly owned wagons and hatchbacks. We only ever had two sedans during my life: my grandmother's Ford Maverick, and my mother's Ford Tempo (which was preceded by a hatchback and succeeded by a wagon). My grandfather had two wagons. My first car, which came from my great-uncle, was a hatchback. I've bought two new cars in my life—both hatchbacks.

I'm a convertible guy. Got three of them. Also have two 4 door hardtop sedans for when I have the grand kids.

I have to say, after owning my Wrangler and an older Grand Cherokee, there's just something I love about driving those big, rough-riding boxes. The Cherokee was especially fun because it was a rusty piece of crap and there's something freeing about driving a vehicle that isn't worth anything and you don't worry about every scratch and dent.

That's how I feel about my van (E-350 Super Duty). It's basically a bus and if you want to try and get cute by cutting me off it's likely your car is worth more than mine, take your chances.

I'm a GM sedan man. Always have been, other than my Nova. No idea where I go from here. Cadillac? Guess I'm old enough for it now, but not really too excited about it.

Nice Mazda5 pic for “MPV.” Mine has served me well but it’s no longer necessary with only one kid left to run around.

IIRC, for a brief window, the Mazda5 was available with a manual. I wish they still made it. I'd be interested.

The "mini minivan" is a vehicle class that exists pretty much everywhere except the United States.

I drove a RHD Japanese small minivan in Afghanistan. I have a pic somewhere, I will look for it.

A manual? Are all the vehicles automatics now?

Yes and only the base model.

Not really sure why those never caught on but people go around in micro SUVs like the Chevy Trax that can’t possibly have any usable space with the 2nd row occupied.

I can carry 6 passengers or 4 with luggage. You can do 5 with luggage and half the third row down but when we did that the luggage kept falling on the kid in the third row.

It was an automatic. And they had snow tires. WEIRD.

The other RHD vehicle I got to drive was a Land Rover Defender that belonged to the British command I was co-located with. I think the Chevy LUVs I drove were stick, as was the LR.

One of our rural letter carriers has a Honda Acty van that looks like this one:

Pretty cool.

We traded our 08 Odyssey for a 2020 Pilot, and they handle very similarly. They may even be on the same platform. The Pilot gets slightly better MPG, but with a smaller gas tank. But man, I could haul a ton of **** in the Odyssey without even taking the second row seats out.

Oh, I was cut off by a Flyers fan in the middle of nowhere this morning. He then flipped me off after he saw the Penguins plate. We both laughed.

Despite the rain, it was a relatively warm day yesterday for late November, so I decided to winterize the car. I did a slightly early (by 200 miles) oil change, and I swapped on the snow tires. I figured better to do both now that in a much colder garage later.

They're Toyotas, so I don't think so unless they have a badge engineering thing going on.

I should have used the old Google. Delicas are Mitsubishi and have headlights/signals that seem to wrap around more.

I thought you were right at first. Because Toyota Delica is good brand alignment with Toyota Celica.

I’m an Acura guy, so I’ll obviously throw the 2021 TLX into the mix. The new Type-S should come in around or a little below your max budget in the spring, and will have a turbo 6.
Checked out the TLX today and liked it a lot. Interested to see the Type S.

Think I am down to the TLX, G80, and A6.

The 5 yr 60,000 mi bumper to bumper on the Genesis has my attention.

I can't speak specifically to Genesis, but my old Hyundai was highly reliable, and my current Kia didn't need a single repair during the five years it was under warranty, which ended earlier this year. I would gladly buy another car made by the Hyundai/Kia group.

The shop I have used for the last 9 years has closed unexpectedly. That really sucks because I actually trusted them, and really, really don't want to look for a new shop.

Edit: Called them for the hell of it, and the owner answered. Told me he was nearing retirement, and figure the pandemic was as good a time as any to do so. I'm just shocked that his son didn't take over, since he had basically been running it for the last couple of years. He was able to give me a recommendation, though, so at least there's that.
