I've never had a martini so I'd need to try both styles. I prefer gin to vodka but no idea of them in the context of this drink.

If there are tongs in the ice bucket, my comfort level soars.

This was a highlight of out trip to Spain. The level of give-a-sht among bar and wait staff at even dive joints was through the roof. You place ice into the glass, you don't scoop it.

I was thinking this thread was purely about the traditional martini.

I like chocolate-tinis or whatever they're called. But I think of them as kind of bastardized martinis.
