This discussion is interesting for me personally, though. I'm not sure there is any physical 'skill' I care enough about if I can't make money from it. The only thing that comes close for me is running, but if that were made elite level easy for me I wouldn't care about it anymore.

If I had to settle it would probably be the ability to hit my driver perfectly straight forever. Would take a lot of needless anxiety out of my game and still leave enough challenges in the approach shots that I would still have fun with it.

Maybe i should switch to putting. Im usually on or near the green first and then lose the hole by multiple strokes. Its comically bad.

We can leave money as part of it. Part of me throwing 100 mph was that I'd probably be a pro

I think thats a problem, i dont know what size you are but i imagine youre not a heavyweight fighter so the other guy is throwing way faster and you never get to strike.

Yeah, he was a lot more than his punch.

That's multiple skills though.

I think that's the interesting thing about the question is how broadly you can look at one skill. I tried to look at the question as just one very defined skill that you'd be great at but that alone would still leave you far behind the average professional. Now maybe you'd have the ability to refine that skill further and add the others necessary to get to a pro level but the one skill alone doesn't make you a pro.

You can putt like Jordan Spieth but if you hit a 140 yd slice off the tee you aren't going to be a pro.

290-300 off the tee and in the fairway 60-70% of the time (#1 on PGA Tour last year was 73.3%...60% would get me in the top 97 on Tour). I'm pretty good once I get inside 150 but I've always struggled because my distances will range from 230-270 and certainly not always in the fairway (that is, if my current mental situation doesn't strike first).

I'd take being able to punt a football far as hell, this is probably the one skill that by itself can make you a couple million.

There is way more to punting than distance. Pretty much every NFL punter can boot a ball 80 yards. It's all about hang time and directional punting.

Elite short game in golf.

I think I definitely could have developed an adequate game with woods and irons, but never had the ability to play near the green.
If you're going to go there, I'd go all the way and say "The ability to strike the ball consistently in any situation". You can dial up distance and any draw/fade with you swing, but you know when you make contact that you will make perfect contact every time you swing the club.

Being able to head a soccer ball properly. I always loved playing when I was younger and wasn't bad but always sucked at heading the ball.

"Your heid's like a 10 bob bit" was a phrase that I heard often.

Was he blind? Why didn't he hit the guy? Dude was just leaning in the corner and Tyson was no where near him.

On the flip side, being a goalie able to save every single shot you see would actually be doable. I'd have a 30 year career and be unrivaled in history because I would basically only have to stand there. Endless Vezina's and Stanely Cups, I'd be the first $20/mil annual salaried player in hockey and every team would offer.
You'd have to think some opposing player (or scores of opposing players) would be trying to give you a career-ending injury just about every game though.

Like @MWB going after @Willie Kool, despite his perfect shooting. :pop:

As such is the great tragedy of life.
