Oh look, second year in a row I owe $695 to the government because I didn't have health insurance.
Do they still make you pay this?
I had insurance this year, otherwise I would have had to. The lady that did my taxes said this will be the last year they are able to fine you.
It will probably be back in 2020 if Trump used an executive order to get rid of it.
I believe a Federal judge in Texas deemed it unconstitutional. Not sure if that all that was needed to kill it or what. Either way I won't have to worry about it.

We owed $1500 federal, had a $500 state refund.
On $100,000 less joint AGI.

Sooo, my father is waiting until the last minute to do their taxes, yet again. He'd been trying to find my mother's paper Social Security statement, but had no luck. So he went online to retrieve it and it asks you all those credit ID questions, "In 2012 you took out a loan on a home at which address" with multiple choice answers. You know the type.
Yeah, well, none of the questions popping up pertain to my mother. So he thought maybe they somehow were mine or my wife's from the short time we lived with them, but that ain't it either. Looks like somebody stole my 70 year old mother's identity.

went to do my taxes today and realized I don't have the form with the interest from my mortgage. I'm thinking it's at home.
I know it was sent out and I have it. Now it's just a matter of finding it.

Should be online I would think if you log on to whoever holds your mortgage.

You probably don't need it unless you have 12500 in deductions (I think is the Single deduction)

This is a quick fix and the kanagroo will not hold himself liable for any potential problems, but ss payments don't change year over year with the exception of the cost of living adjustment. just google 2019 cost of living adjustment, multiply the 2018 taxable benefits by the COLA, then you have a relatively decent guess at what the 2019 was. it is better than nothing.

I would be getting $850 back from the government if I wasn't still paying from past years shortfalls. Had to pay Missouri $2300 though.

My withholdings are all F'd up and I had to pay $3500 to the feds.
I guess having a kid in 2020 will cover most of that... i still should probs lower my exemptions by 1

I had to request it since the place that had my mortgage was bought out, rebranded, and did not do any online support for that specific company.

Federal employees are not allowed to opt-out of the deferral of OASDI. So we're going to stop paying the 6.2% social security tax from Sept-Dec, and then pay it back Jan-April. Effectively I'll go from a 6.2% to a 0% to a 12.4% rate between now and April.
