How is chicken guy? I work in the steel tower so it's borderline too far to walk for lunch. But I'm curious

I must confess I haven't eaten there yet. My cheap ass takes in PB&J sandwiches for lunch.

I think Mrs mac is leaning towards trying moonlit Burgers tomorrow pregame. My parking pass being in the east lot is probably not ideal for this scenario though.

Saw this from our local Mad Mex on FB:
We have made the difficult decision to temporarily close due to the ongoing challenges that we've been facing since the start of the COVID pandemic.
We will use the time of this temporary closure to consider the best way to reopen and move forward. Thank you for your patience, and we hope to see you again soon.
We stopped going long ago because the food was below average, and service was even worse. I guess it never improved.
RIP Mad Mex Oakland.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the difficult decision to close Mex Oakland due to ongoing staffing and operational challenges. We'll never forget the good times we’ve shared on Atwood over the past 30 years. We hope to continue to make great memories with you at our other Mad Mex locations throughout the city.
Luckily there’s still the Shadyside location if you’re in the mood for mediocre Mexican food with a long wait for a table.

I was living in Oakland when Mad Mex first opened. It was much better than the Chi Chi's of the day.

Mad Mex has some very specific things that I like. I certainly don't go there if looking for actual Mexican.

Wingos Tacos w/ san fran sauce and Gobblerito ftw however.

Never went to the Oakland location... mostly been to the NH, Robinson, and Canonsburg.

It's been a long time, but I recall the original Oakland location as being pretty small inside. That location certainly wouldn't have been a major earner for the Big Burrito Group, and I imagine with today's staffing issues for every restaurant, it was probably more of a hassle than it was worth.

It was at Bates and Atwood. There was a cool record store Aziz down the street on Atwood at the time.

A Jersey Mike's just opened near me, i've never had it before.

Looks almost exactly like a Jimmy John's but with cheesesteaks. Is there anything notable about it?

Quantity and quality are both upgrades over JJ. It's more expensive than JJ

I like jersey Mike's. What I dont like is that they sit there and slice the meat to order. I get that it's supposed to show how fresh it is. But bro, let's not fool each other here, there's nothing fresh about hard salami

Jersey Mikes is the best fast food sub you're going to find. The bread is better than Jimmy Johns, the meat is better than Jimmy Johns, the portions are better than Jimmy Johns, the toppings are better than Jimmy Johns.... everything about it is better than Jimmy Johns. Go get a #13, Mike's way with the pepper spread and you'll be a happy person.

Also keep an eye out for BOGO coupons in the mail. They just opened a new location near me and send out two flyers with good coupons that are only valid at that specific location. Free sandwiches are good sandwiches.

My youngest will tell you JJ's is better but everyone else likes JM's. We have had JM for a couple years now but when in Cranberry have been stopping at that one for more than 20.

We recently also got a FIrehouse Subs, I'd put it between the two. Better than JJ's but not as good as JM's.

My last office visit I went to dibellas. A medium godfather, make it a meal, was like $16. Yeesh. I also aboit fainted seeing them put frozen bread dough on pans to bake it. I don't know why but I assumed those buns were fresh
