For any sketch comedy fans, I'm in a sketch revue downtown this weekend and next that's worth checking out. Contributed a couple scripts as well. Here's the info: https://www.showclix.com/tickets/sketchville2022. Should be a fun time!

Just got tickets for my wife and I to see Nate Bargatze this spring. Haven't been to a big standup show since I saw Carlin in 1999 or 2000 lol. Ticketmaster doin' its thing though. Bastards.

Caroline's is closing...
I'm gonna go see Dave Attell at one of the final shows there...I'm oddly...I don't know, I'm weird about going to some of the big time clubs here because it's just like such an intimate place where so many legends have absolutely killed over the years...I've been hearing comics talk about these places all of my life, I sometimes have a hard time walking into them and I can't describe why...
But with Caroline's, it's now or never...

Wow, that's a damn shame. Have you ever seen Attell before? He's outstanding. I've seen him multiple times over the years, and would kill to see him again in person.Caroline's is closing...

You'll seriously regret not going. There's an electricity to going to a storied venue like that.

Nice! Good luck.
Thanks! They all went off without a hitch. We sold out 3 of the 6 shows. Audience response was good, so overall, a success. Always very validating to hear a bunch of people laugh at something you also thought was funny enough to be worth writingLet us know how it goes!

That's great, meecro. Well done.
There's a Studio sketch group, and four of them just showed up to the holiday potluck. So......... I think I'm about to see an improv show?

As someone who also does a lot of improv.....woof, hope you were spared that.

But fair play, they were literally on their lunch break and came over to give us some cheer. That s**t is hard to do in the best of times, never mind in front of a small-ish group of coworkers you might conceivably have to do work stuff with after the performance. They were earnest and I'm 100% sure every one of them did better than I could've done.
It is the blessing and the curse of working in the entertainment industry. The city is full of people who moved here chasing dreams of fortune and glory on stage and screen, but now 20 years later they are a finance manager (or even a paralegal) for a company with a giant antropomorphic mouse on our nametags. Yet the desire to perform is still there. The one cast member actually had a pretty great singing voice, and she belted like no one was watching, so that was good.

That was definitely a weird/depressing realization during our trip to Disneyland and Universal Hollywood versus the equivalent in Florida. In Florida, they're park employees. The Indiana Jones stunt show cast obviously had experience but they're hired for that show all the way across the country from Hollywood. The dude playing Indiana Jones has been doing it for three decades. In California there was an odd realization where basically everyone working in those parks was making ends meet while their entertainment industry dreams died. I blame the Waterworld stunt show. You walk up the path to the stadium seating and you're greeted by the cast's headshots along with their acting/stunt credits, which hasn't been updated in half a decade and they've been stuck performing a stunt show for $50 a pop.

Nick Offerman is coming to the Parx Casino out my way in March. I have no idea what kind of show it is, but I'm thinking that my wife and I would love it, so I may go.

Got tix on a whim last night to see Adam Sandler. Boy oy boy do ticketmaster prices for PPG shows drop like an hour before showtime. Anyway, show was highly enjoyable. It was a very similar format (a mix of stand-up and short songs throughout) to his Netflix special from a few years ago, which I recommend if you haven't checked it out before.
