"Every Brilliant Thing" on HBO2Go is a really good comedy play (single actor in the middle of a rectangular stage, 1 hour). Basically, it is how suicide should be talked about in a comedy settings if your name is not Anthony Jeselnik.

(I actually saw the play live - with a female actor - and I was "No. 26"(? - something about peeing :) )

Saw Brian Reagan Friday night at the Greensburg Palace Theater. Given the locale and his Netflix special, I didn’t expect much. But he had me rolling by the end. Good to see he still had it.

I've always wanted to see him. Haven't seen recent stuff of his but I always tell people how underrated he was. None of my friends know who he is

I like Regan a lot. He gets heavy play from SiriusXM. I wish his Netflix show was good. Looks like they spent $20 per episode to make it and demanded change.

They mentioned a show he is in - Loudermilk I think it's called? May have to check that out.

I discovered Regan on Sirius back in the early 2000's. In fact, most of my music and comedy tastes came from that era via Sirius.

We are going to see Steve Martin Short at the Greek Theater in July, and I am thoroughly pleased.

Every few months I binge watch all the College Humor shorts he did a while back.

On the way into Hollywood for dinner before seeing Eddie Izzard at the Dolby Theater. Will be our 7th time seeing him, second time at this venue.

Aziz Ansari's new Netflix special is pretty good. Really need another season of Master of None though.

I was underwhelmed.

Damn, really, DG66? I'm more critical of stand-up than most...but man, I didn't come close to cracking a smile during it...I considered turning it off after 10 minutes, but stuck it out to see if it evolved at all...but he's one of the least funny "famous" people out there for me...

I was waiting for somebody to mention the comedy festival, and yes it was very underwhelming. The one female comic was terrible. She beat the 'look at them, they're so uncomfortable" thing into the ground. I didn't think her set was gonna end.

Even Burr's set, something seemed off like he didn't plan much. I mean he was still funny, but like I said something seemed off with his set.

I enjoyed it...but I’m in a different place in life than you. Was it Carlin in his prime? Nah, but I liked how he handled the sexual harassment allegations...and wtf were those kids doing in the audience. 😂

Haha crowd work is the first step into a blender as a stand up...I'm not here to knock what's funny or whatever to others, I'm really just grieving that I never liked him and like him worse now...it says nothing about you, I think 99% of stand up acts I have seen are unfunny and this is no exception...

Always open to it. But I'll caution that I've probably watched/listened to more stand-up comedy here than virtually anyone...I trace lineages/influences, I go to local **** here to see what amateurs are doing, I'm really into the craft...99% was probably a strong number, it's probably more like 95%...that's why I'm such a baby b*tch boy about doing it myself - everyone I know and even people I don't know, encourage me to do stand-up ("you missed your calling" blah blah blah) and every time I put together a good five minutes, I re-read it, try to smooth out the rhythm of some things and then end up reading it too much and going "eh, that's not funny"...I don't want to be in the 95% of garbage...

I think someone posted recently about things that are correlated without any causation...I'd say that the amount of stand-up that's garbage coincides nicely with the amount of tattoos that are garbage...

Off the top of my head, Dave Attell is a must see. I've seen him a number of times now, and he has killed each time. I'd love to see Daniel Tosh live, as well.

Tosh's stuff was much funnier to me a few years ago...he's a good one though. Sardonic, but with a vaguely effeminate delivery...I relate to it pretty well. I think if I ever were to do this, I think I would use some of his deliveries as a crutch until I figure it out for myself. I do think he works better commenting on material than he does making his own sometimes...I do like that he admits in one of his acts that he keeps getting more and more specific about his jokes until only a few people in the audience can even relate...it's almost a comic's comic angle in an act that is definitely not...he's got a lot of upside, I'm excited to see his progress in his next hour - assuming he does one.

Attell has only average actual material, but his delivery - particularly his quick wind-up - is what makes him funny. He delivers loud, it's frat party comedy...just loud, quick hitters and you feel compelled to laugh because of how ridiculous his delivery is at the height of the joke...his problem (beyond, again, only average actual jokes that don't stray at all from a central theme of debauchery) is he doesn't "finish" jokes...so much is left open-ended, if he could just couplet - so to speak - a handful of his lines I think it make more a much tighter show/act...but he stammers through all of his closes with his "closing interjection" style and it's kind of sloppy for me...

"...it's kind of like laughing at midget|OK, anyway..." or "...and that's how I found out my mom was a hooker|wait, what? Huh?"

He still maintains this mid-late 90's style, so I don't think it's going to change. At least he doesn't do that "ladies and gentlemen" close like so many hacks do...that's the worst interjection close in the history of stand-up...but these are both funny guys...Tosh is in that 5%, Attell is on the fringes of it probably...good start...
