I'll second the Mike Birbiglia mention. Sleepwalk With Me is a great album/set, but you have to listen to the entire thing to fully appreciate it. He really plays the self-deprecating bit well.

no way... While Sleepwalk with me is really good, what I should have said was nothing is his best stuff by far. Wasn't a huge fan of My Girlfriend's Boyfriend.

My two favorites right now:

Bill Burr. Dude is so comfortable in front of a crowd, and not at all afraid to tread out onto thin ice. Ace at casual observation.

Mike Birbiglia. Awesome at telling an awkward story and making it hilarious.

I'm watching Bill Burr's recent special for the 3rd or 4th time right now...I think it might be my favorite. I wonder when he is going to plateau. The nice thing about your favorite comedians getting popular is that it actually makes them better. Going to a crowd packed with more fans makes a show better. Its not like when bandwagoners flood an arena and you have to hear their stupidity all game long.

I wouldn't mind going to see him with my dad. We both loved the crap out of his older stuff.

Back in the early 90s a group of us would go the comedy club every weekend.

There was a whole good circuit of mostly regional comedians, but eventually it faded away.

Had to look up Terry Fator. lol.

The only thing about that list that makes me scratch my head is that Mike Judge isn't on it.

Even tho their fortunes were built on the strength of sitcoms, I think Seinfeld, Cosby, Leno (especially), Romano and Foxworthy would bristle at not being included in the 'Comedian' category.

Yeah, Dave Attell, Louie, Bill Burr I would say are the best 3 working.
TIL Bill Burr was in Chappelle's "Samuel Jackson Beer" skit

That Terry Fator story is crazy...won America's Got Talent in 2007 and parlayed it into being worth $100mm doing only standup? Well done.

I expected Jeff Dunham to be in that slot way more than him.

I have never seen or heard of Terry Fator prior to this. Ventriloquists are funny now?

I saw him at Heinz Hall and it was ok; this was probably 5 years ago or so.

The two best shows I think I've been to are probably Chappelle at Borgata maybe 10 years ago at the height of his show and Seinfeld 8 or 9 years ago at heinz Hall

We watched the Jim Jeffries special on Netflix tonight. "Bare", released in August 2014.

I seriously don't remember the last time I convulsively belly-laughed that much. I seriously thought Mrs Tif's head was going to pop, she was snort-laughing so hard. So unapologetic and un-PC. He uses the c-word like Gordon Ramsay uses salt.

"April 18th"
"You can't smell porn."
"They're easier to buy."
"That's where he keeps his legs."

I don't even believe in hell, but I just booked my first class ticket.

Jimmy Carr - Funny Business on Netflix is the best I've seen him probably ever. Great show, wife and I laughed a lot.

Especially good if you love some NTP66 jokes.
