The new Chappelle special is very much just him out there trying hard to trigger people without a ton of substance behind it. And I say that as a Chappelle fan.
If you're into anti-PC stuff, you'll love it. Otherwise, it just comes across as a temper tantrum.
Bill Burr's new special on the other hand... Fan-freakin-tastic.

good to hear. I loved his first couple, but I didn't care for the last one he did on NetflixSource of the post Bill Burr's new special on the other hand... Fan-freakin-tastic

I think this one is better than his last one on Netflix. I don't think it comes close to his first few though. Those are gold.good to hear. I thought his last one was a mediocre outing that felt much worse because the audience was absolutely horrific. The newest special is a return to form, though like c2i I don't think anything can touch his first four specials. One thing I really liked about this special is that we've really gotten a look into his life over the past 10+ years, going from angry single guy who will never get married or have kids to angry guy in a relationship with a woman who decided to keep a pit bull she found by the LA River to angry married guy with a daughter.good to hear. Yeah, Burr can't touch his older stuff...but at least he can kind of get close...it's tough for him to keep his "I'm angry" shtick when he succumbed to all the things he was angry about...still like him though.
Like I said somewhere else, Chappelle's new special isn't good...and I think I probably watched the entire Chappelle's Show series in total at least two dozen times over...love the guy...this just wasn't a good outing...

The only issue I had with the Chappell special was the “it’s tough being a celebrity” thing.
You comprise less than .0001% of the population. You are a fringe group whose problems shouldn’t matter to strangers. Go talk to your famous friends about your plight. I have different concerns in my life

wasn't that why he disappeared? Sounds like he's back complaining about all the things he tried avoiding in the first place? The only issue I had with the Chappell special was the “it’s tough being a celebrity” thing.

I think the last Chapelle special illustrates, in part, why there aren't very many good comedians that lean conservative. If that level of material is what got everyone on the right standing and applauding..... oof.

ditto, although I made it about ten minutes in.I always enjoyed Steven Wright. I watched five minutes of Kinison and had to turn it off.
Whatever happened to Steven Wright? I haven't heard his name in years, not even as a cameo on a tv show.

So you're saying comedians aren't conservative because ..they don't have to work as hard to make people on the right like their material?
I think it was applauded because it was more of one of their own, prominent comedian - a liberal learning black guy to boot - basically told his own audience how awful they are.

Yup, that's precisely my point.

Then I guess I'm missing your point.

I'm saying the bar for what conservative-leaning people will laugh at is so low when it comes to politically-themed material, if that's the only bar you're clearing to get that laugh then there is not going to be a large population of such comedians who have any chops.
There's nothing wrong with the premise of the material (that cancel culture warriors are terribad, and they're eating their young) in that show. But it has to be funny; like sub-10% of the jokes in Chapelle's last show were funny, at least to the level you should be expecting from him.

Yeah, Jesus, that's an insanely bad opinion...no matter what side is saying it...

Then I shall await that abundant list of conservative (or even just right-leaning) comedians who tear it up. (The only one I can think of is Nick DiPaolo, and I do think he's pretty solid)

DiPaolo is great, and I wish I saw more of him. He used to frequent Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.

I'm not arguing that damn near all comedians are left leaning. I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea that they're left learning because conservatives are too easy to make laugh.
Comedy and Humor
Again, that's not what I'm saying. But okay.

For the hell of it, I googled conservative comedians:
Tim Allen
Adam Carolla
Rob Schneider
Jeff Foxworthy
Dennis Miller
Ron White
Bill Engvall
Adam Sandler
Jeff Dunham
Norm Macdonald
Norm and Tim are the only two from the list who I actually enjoy.

I had no idea Adam Sandler was even political with his comedy.

To be fair - and I should have written this in my previous post - he isn’t. These are just conservative comics, not referring to their material (at least for some of them).
