And AJ Burnett to the DL with right elbow inflammation. Buccos called up Bobby LaFromboise.
I guess that's why they got Happ now. This rotation is getting quite top-heavy. Cole, Liriano, then pray for 3 days of rain?

Morse sucks and is batting .091 against lefties this year. Nice platoon.

AJ is going to be replaced in the rotation by someone worse than Vance Worley. Stupid.

Morse only has 22 at-bats against LHP this year. He is a .274 hitter lifetime.

At least they didn't trade for Lovejoy.

Dude we have the 2nd best record in the NL and 3rd or 4th best in the whole league.
That would mean a lot more if AJ hadn't melted down. This squad could still win it all and did get a little stronger at the deadline but I don't think we have the depth of pitching to take it all.

So what? The guy he lost the 1B job to midseason bats left-handed and only has 22 at-bats against LHPs as well. Either the Marlins never face lefties or Morse is so bad anymore that they didn't even bother platooning him at first. On top of that, Pedro only has 35 at-bats against LHP this year and is batting .222 against them. While they are all sample sizes, the basic picture is that Michael Morse and his four homeruns and almost zero playing time against lefties sucks and is probably no longer good at baseball and is a crappy option to platoon with Pedro. Would have rather seen Mike Napoli.

He lost the job because he was on the DL.
And didn't get it back because he sucks. His pick up is of zero benefit to the Pirates. Happ is a downgrade from what they already had. They're down to 2/5ths of an effective starting rotation. Today was a set back for this team.

Didn't exactly trade like they were trying to tell the locker room that they can win this year.

In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before Cutch gets fed up with the team being more worried about next year than this.
