I'm more interested now in what happens to Walker and Alvarez. I think if you're not going to use Alvarez for his bat - in one game. It's time to move on - that being said, are they even going to get power at the corners?

There is no crying in baseball

I started to feel like poop so I did end up leaving at the beginning of the 7th. 104 fever and holding steady!

They didn't mean this literally...

Sure, but the fact that he was announced the starter because Hurdle thought it was going to be a 1-0 game is laughable. If Sean Rod is announced the starter, then just get rid of Alvarez.

I just want the Pirates to pay for someone that can actually hit near .300 and hit homeruns. Cutch can't do it all, and they can't have guys like Polanco going 0-4 when it matters.

What about Kang? He was mashing it until his injury? One more like him?

I don't think Arrieta was pitching like he did the past two months. He was missing spots but the Bucs didn't make him pay for it.
I somewhat agree. I don't know if TBS's strike zone was off or if the ump was slobbering all over Arrieta's second half and just gave him the Maddux strike zone. But he was hitting his spots in the first 4 innings before becoming hittable. Bucs could have capitalized but it would have been too little too late anyway.
Completely agree with this. He was strong the first 4+ innings. Then he started missing pitches, but the Bucs swung at balls out of the zone and also hit a few "at-em" balls.
In the 6th inning, Polanco hit one 109MPH off him for a line out to Bryant at 3rd and then Marte hit 107MPH that ended up being a double-play ball. Two of the hardest hit off Arrieta all year and they ended up being all 3 outs in that inning. Brutal.

Didn't say free agency. Maybe the issue with the Pitchers injuries hurt their chances last deadline - but I'm also OK in exploring options in moving Marte/Polanco and prospects to make a splash.

The small market team isn't going to have the window open forever, and it just sucks.

Totally it sucks for injuries. The lineup again deserved questioning - I think Harrison would have been the better PH option over Ramirez, and obviously Pedro who had some "post-season" success over Serpico. That all being said, it may not have mattered much:

Then really that doesn't even matter if your Ace is giving up runs.

You were called out by the 'unbiased' commentary team. They made a point that the blackout had turned blue around that time.

Marte's double play came off the bat at 109mph. That was the 4th hardest a ball has been hit against Arrieta all season. We hit him hard quite a few times but he must be enchanted or something because every time it was right to someone.

I'm tired of people saying "win the division" and complaining about our record against our division. You can't expect a team to win 100 games. We won 98 this year. That would win 21 out of 24 divisions since 2012. Of the other 3, 2 we would have tied for first and the other was our division this year.

I think the chart speaks to how he could get by with what he had, but it obviously isn't a good way to go about it.

The only playoff team the Royals had a winning record against? The Pirates.
If you can't beat Milwaukee and the Reds, you won't have it much easier against Cleveland and Detroit. :)

Speaking of that, the Tigers finished last in the AL Central, except they went 41-34 against it.

You need to move to the East, you were great against the Mets this year.

Would end up getting no-hit half a dozen times by Scherzer.

2-1 against Cleveland, 4-2 against Detroit. All 6 games against the Tigers were before they tanked at the end of the year. Pretty sure they caught Cleveland after Lindor was called up.
