Thank you.

I haven't flown one since I regularly used to hop from Chicago to La Crosse, WI.

The last time I was on a 145 was escaping a massive ice storm at DFW, where we drove to another airport in **** Texas to get to Houston. Could have just delayed our return a single day, but I couldn’t take any more of that area (Harlingen).

Before tif gets me I'd like to note that 'I haven't flown in one...' and am not claiming that I am instrument rated.

There's a general embiggening in progress for the global regional-jet fleet, and if the trend continues I doubt we'll see many more new orders for the ERJs and other 50-seat airliners. The Bombardier CRJ200 is already out of production, and the new sweet spot seems to be around 70-80 seats, with airliners such as the Embraer 175 and 175E2, Bombardier CRJ900, and the Mitsubishi Regional Jet filling those roles. I think the Mitsubishi MRJ70 could actually get a lot of orders for ERJ-145 replacements if Mitsubishi can manage to pull its thumb out of its butt and actually start delivering aircraft.

A Gulfstream IV that blew two landing tires upon takeoff has been flying around for several hours trying to determine a strategy for landing. It's carrying Post Malone:

Edit: Going to attempt to land at Westfield Barnes Airport in Massachusetts.

The plane is currently doing circles near Bridgeport/Norwalk to burn off fuel.

Apparently they diverted it to Stewart Airport in the Hudson Valley...I've flown out of there, it's about 20 minutes from my in-laws.

I like how you say "Post Malone" casually like it means something. ;)

My MiL just sent me a picture of the Gulfstream passing right overhead which I tweeted. This is already the most viral thing I have ever tweeted

Fox news opted to cut their live feed of the runway to air some more prescription pill commercials and when they got back the plane was already taxi'ing. (We have a TV in our SCIF.)

I looked up Post Malone, and I saw he has face tattoos and a man bun. Call me a bad person if you want, but I was actually rooting for that G-IV to crash in such a way that everyone but Mr. Malone walked away uninjured.

Hah, I wrote this in a group chat before it landed: "If there weren't 15 other people on board I'd wish for it to face plant. I'm still considering it, tbh. I googled the name and I don't like his face. Nothing else."

This video answers something I've long wondered about myself: Why is there a brief pause in engine spool-up at the start of takeoff?

I keep forgetting to share Captain Joe's video from a couple weeks ago dealing with simultaneous parallel runway visual approaches. (PRM & SOIA procedures) I'm on mobile, which isn't super conducive to sharing YouTube links, but I think all the regulars ITT know the channel.

I like the SOIA part, cos they use SFO as the exemplar. The first time you see a jet flying towards another jet at 1500' is, honestly, a little unnerving.

Hawaiian Airlines announces new non-stop service from Boston to Honolulu, the longest domestic route in the country, via the A330. I know it’s very improbable, but I’d love for them to announce a non-stop Philly route.

10-11 hours in the air, and it's still a domestic flight. This, my European friends, is why most United Statesicans don't have passports.

I could easily deal with a 10 hour direct flight to Hawaii.

This stereotype has always annoyed me. Your point is true, not to mention that we are lucky enough to be able to enjoy virtually all climates and geographical features right here in the US of A. I've always thought that passport condescension was very classist.
