Farting Passenger Causes Fight, Emergency Landing in Vienna
A Transavia flight from Dubai to Amsterdam’s Schipol airport was forced to make an emergency landing in Vienna on February 11, after a fight broke out because a passenger refused to stop passing gas.

Interestingly, Mr. Fartypants was not one of the four passengers who were thrown off the aircraft.

That doesn’t entirely surprise me if the others were causing a scene.

Best airplane experience?

I took a 777 from Atlanta to JFK and that was roomy and fun; it was headed to Mumbai.

Singapore Airlines Airbus A350, by far.

However, I actually kinda preferred the Lufthansa 747-800 in-flight entertainment system.

I haven’t been disappointed in the A321’s with IFE so far. If I ever get a chance to fly on a 777, I’m sure it’d skyrocket to the top of my list.

Aviation industry experts at Leeham News and others, have indicated that Hawaiian Airlines will soon cancel its orders for six A330-800 and instead purchase an unknown number of wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. An announcement could happen at any time.
That’s actually quite surprising, given that all of their recent purchases have been from Airbus, including their newest A321neo’s. This won’t affect their A320/A321 fleet, but it’s certaibly a 180. I have no idea how Boeing is doing financially right now after the big ordeal they got themselves into last year, but I wonder if they gave Hawaiian a deal the couldn’t pass on.

I think there are a number of factors in play in the Hawaiian deal, if the reports are accurate. Hawaiian didn't want the A330-800neo originally; they wanted the A350-800, but Airbus decided not to manufacture that shorter variant of the A350. So Hawaiian switched over to the A330-800neo, but they were literally the only airline that had any orders for that model. Every other order for the A330neo is for the bigger -900 version. It's quite likely that Hawaiian was worried that it would end up being the only operator of that type. It's not good to operate unique aircraft because it makes parts and maintenance more expensive. So we had a situation where Hawaiian wasn't really all that enthused about the A330-800neo for multiple reasons, and Boeing saw an opportunity to come in with some really low prices. Also, Hawaiian wanted out of the leases for some of its current 767-300ER widebodies, and the lessor for those aircraft is Boeing Capital Corp. According to airliners.net, part of the deal includes early termination of those leases.

Neato: Norwegian broke the record (which it already held) for the fastest subsonic NY to London flight: 5 hours and 9 minutes on a 787-9. That's down from 5:13, which Norwegian set back in January with another 787-9. Landed a full hour early.

As a former keeper of tropical fish, Norwegian's red-nose livery always makes me think of the Rummy-Nose Tetra.

Former? Start up again so that I have somebody to talk to about fish (even though my tank is saltwater, and it’s my wife’s that’s freshwater).

I lost my tank in the 2010 snowmageddon when the power at my house was out for around 4 days. I had a blackwater-style tank devoted exclusively to South American Tetras. I just never set it back up after the storm. If I were going to get back into the hobby, I'd like to do a brackish tank with a Figure 8 puffer.

Ahh, I see. That's precisely why I bought my generator, along with a few other emergency items. I had a figure 8 puffer for a while about a decade ago. Fun fish, which is one reason I decided to add a puffer to my saltwater tank when I stood it up.

Just for some more context, Downey is all of about a dozen miles due east of LAX.

The good news is SW is in Terminal 1, so they only had to go like 100 yards to get back to the gate.

You can fit an entire 737 fuselage inside the GE90 engine of a 777.
