OK, that’s another account that says she was partially sucked out the window. I read an AP report last night with the same info. So was she partially sucked out? Or not?

Unless I've missed them, I have not seen a single photo showing any hole in the fuselage, and certainly not large enough to cause somebody to be sucked out (even though that's not possible, anyway).

The window was knocked out, could be a broad definition of ‘sucked out.’ Maybe ‘sucked towards” is more accurate.

The woman was sucked out of a broken window. In some photos you can see the broken window. It's directly behind the wing where the engine exploded.Unless I've missed them, I have not seen a single photo showing any hole in the fuselage, and certainly not large enough to cause somebody to be sucked out (even though that's not possible, anyway).
Apparently she was outside of the plane for minutes, not seconds. Her seatmate and the woman behind her held her but couldn't pull her back in. Two men rushed to help, and they were able to pull her in. A passenger did CPR, but she never responded.

I'm pretty ashamed of that post...but it was an easy one.I rarely use this, but that is POTW material right there. She probably killed herself when she realized they were landing in PhillyNo one got sucked out. A woman had a heart attack.

The pilot apparently is pretty bad ass. She was one of the first female fighter pilots in the Navy. Saw that on the news this am.

Finally found a photo of the broken window on the fourth article. Lesson of the day: wear your **** seatbelt at all times.

Bingo. Passengers on a plane are so fcking annoying. I can't STAND the passengers that the second the plane gets off the ground, they are standing up and making a beeline for the bathroom. Even after the flight attendants say repeatedly to sit back down, they still don't listen. Go before you board the flight you schmucks. Finally found a photo of the broken window on the fourth article. Lesson of the day: wear your **** seatbelt at all times.

It sure is possible. Just not the James Bond way.Unless I've missed them, I have not seen a single photo showing any hole in the fuselage, and certainly not large enough to cause somebody to be sucked out (even though that's not possible, anyway).

I don't know if a seat belt would matter. If she is directly beside the window the sheer force could pull her partially out of the plane. They are saying her arms and upper torso were sucked out. So strictly speculating, I thought this would be pulled out to about mid chest/upper waist. Which could happen even with a seat belt on.Finally found a photo of the broken window on the fourth article. Lesson of the day: wear your **** seatbelt at all times.

If you're secured to your seat with a seatbelt, there's no way the pressure is pulling you so much that the belt stretches. It's just not physically possible for that to happen unless the belt is defective. I can get behind an adult's arm/shoulder getting sucked out from the force, but it's not pulling them out of that seat.I don't know if a seat belt would matter. Yeah, this is just not how that works. It would take approximately 2 or 3 seconds for the pressure to equalize, after which there's no continued force other than 'hey, the plane's flying 500 mph, neat!'.If you're secured to your seat with a seatbelt, there's no way the pressure is pulling you so much that the belt stretches. And an entire window being blown out is a little bit different than a run-of-the-mill explosive decomp.

So I'm still not sure: is the person who died of the heart attack the same as the person who got sucked out? I keep hearing different things.

The person who got sucked out passed away. I thought she was the only fatality. So I'm still not sure: is the person who died of the heart attack the same as the person who got sucked out? I keep hearing different things.

Same person, apparently.

So, she was sucked out from the waist up, but only her arms and head were out of the airplane. Okay. It's awful, but there is a lot of exaggerating going on."You hear the pop and she was sucked out from the waist up," one passenger told NBC Nightly News. "There was blood on the windows...her arms were actually out of the airplane and her head was out of the airplane."

She had a heart attack, not sudden cardiac arrest, so that's unlikely.
