I would say that’s old news, but that would just be a dad joke.

that Amazon Prime members can get GrubHub+ free for a year. I think they still slip in a "service fee" but at least the delivery fees are subtracted. like any of these it'll auto-renew in a year if you don't cancel it.

We used Grubhub last night. No delivery fee, but a small service fee. Not as many restaurants use it as Doordash here though.

Taylor Lautner, the guy from Twilight who isn’t Robert Pattinson, is engaged to be married to…Taylor Dome. She’s going to take his last name thus both of their names will be “Taylor Lautner” exactly

A buddy in college married a girl with the same last name, but of course different first name. Was easy for her to take her husband's last name

peas are legumes. Botanically, peanuts are more closely related to peas and beans than cashews

A kid I went to college with had the same first, middle, and last name. The name was a common first name but fairly rare but not unheard of last name. So it was like George George George.

Why would you do that to a kid. Maybe family tradition thing but even so.

Dogs have belly buttons.

Because of course they do, I just never thought about it.

Found this out because my cocker has some sort of mass on his belly that we were worried about. Vet said it’s his umbilicus protruding but nothing to worry about.

So now my dog has an outie.

I've been listening to my collection of Dragnet radio shows recently, and a regular mention in those Dragnet shows is an injured person being taken to "Georgia Street Receiving Hospital." I finally got around to looking that up. Central Receiving Hospital was LA's first public hospital and was founded in 1868 as a hospice for smallpox victims. There were five locations over the years. In the early to mid 1950s when the Dragnet radio show was on, Central Receiving Hospital was located on the third floor of the Georgia Street Police Station in downtown Los Angeles. That location closed in 1957, and the block where it was located is now part of the complex for the Los Angeles Convention Center.

I think @tifosi77 would get a kick out of listing to these old Dragnet shows. The last episode I listened to involved a boy who went missing from what was described as an "remote, out of the way" part of Los Angeles. He went missing hiking in Elysian Park. That's where Dodger Stadium is now located. Plus stuff like the victim of a crime living in a "quiet bungalow" on Wilshire Boulevard, or Friday and Smith talking about moving into the brand-new police building (later named the Parker Center), which was demolished a couple years ago.

Oh for sure, I absolutely love that kind of stuff. It's fun on YouTube to watch clips of people driving from Hollywood to the coast down Sunset Blvd or something in 2021 and comparing that to 1953 or whatever. Or even playing a video game like L.A. Noire, which is obviously a pared down version of the city, but still captures the essence of the complete absence of development in areas that are now among the most dense urban environments in the country less than a lifetime later. (Like I just recently learned that the population of San Francisco the year before the gold rush hit was in the low hundreds; I can't even imagine that. lol)

Elysian Park also has what I think is the main LAPD academy campus. In a town overflowing with assed up traffic, Elysian Park is probably the most assed up traffic area of of them all. "Let's put a giant sports and entertainment venue on top of a hill with three roads in and out. What could go wrong."

I just finished reading The Portrait of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and while I knew a little about Wilde, his demise is pretty poetic

the Marquess of Queensbury left a note for Wilde, calling Wilde a “sodomite”. Wilde sued the Marquess for libel and during the trial, Marquess’ defense called several male prostitutes to testify that Wilde engaged in sexual activity with them.

Wilde dropped the suit and this was required to pay the Marquess’ legal expenses, which bankrupted Wilde, and then was charged with gross indecency for engaging in homosexual acts. He spent 2 years in prison and then died 3 years after getting out

That's an interesting use of the phrase 'poetic'. Seems more like an actual bona fide example of Alanis Morissette irony.
