TIL about "auto brewery syndrome"...all jokes aside, this sounds awful. Basically, any carbs/sugar in your body are converted to ethanol.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-brewery_syndrome

The effects of the disease can have profound effects on everyday life. As well, the recurring side effects of excessive belching, dizziness, dry mouth, hangovers, disorientation, irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic fatigue syndrome can lead to other health problems such as depression, anxiety and poor productivity in employment. The random state of intoxication can lead to personal difficulties, and the relative obscurity of the condition can also make it hard to seek treatment

I read about that in Readers Digest about 15 years ago. Some lady kept getting DUIs after eating crackers, took them a while to find out what was going on.

Work related?
Yes, sir. Someone applying to be a garbage truck driver is feeling awfully confident about a company's willingness to overlook this today...

C'mon. What are the chances of being drunk that early in the morning?

Everyone deserves an 11th chance.

Got to it from a story on The Independent about WikiLeaks and Bernie Sanders. One of the promoted 'most popular' stories was "This is why we board airplanes on the left". From there, I learned 'port' was the side of the ship that always faced dockside (the port) in ye days of woode ships and iron Men. So I looked up starboard, and learned it was a derivative of the Olde English word for 'steer board', which in the days before centerline rudders was usually on the right side of a ship because most people are right-handed. Over time, that became 'starboard', in the same way that 'forecastle' is pronounced 'focsle'.

Navy people, geez.

I was watching an in depth video on DeLorean components made by a shop in the UK. He kept botching Left and Right side of the car, my brain was screaming for him to just use port and starboard. Driver and Passenger doesn't work because they were made in both LHD and RHD.

Is there an equivilant for aircraft?

There was a lot of blow in the air for that company, so possibly a factor.

I think they use port-starboard, don't they? But aircraft are pretty uniform in that the pilot/aircraft commander sits in the left seat. (Which goes to the reason when we board on the left side) So there isn't a LHD-RHD issue.
