TIL; my mother is the individual at her place of employment who microwaves fish.
This is basically the equivalent of **** posting for the over 50 set so this checks out.

I very much was not insulting your mom and apologize if you felt I was as that's certainly not my intent. I read your post to mean that you were poking fun at her for being the office person who microwaves fish, and joked it was the the equivalent of you sh!tposting because you are her son.

She is a pretty quiet person, which believe or not, I am, too. I won't call myself a raging introvert or anything, but I do have my hangups with socializing IRL.

“Happy Birthday to You” is not in the public donain and each public performance requires royalty payment to Warner-Chappell.

Mexican Jumping Beans are not beans- they are moth larvae embedded in seed pods of Mexican shrubs

TIL; you can reverse the metal plate on a stapler that makes the staples bend inward. Reversing it makes them bend outwards, making them easier to remove for light staple jobs.

Hmph, I always played around with that and even spun the plate before but it never dawned on me (and never would have, quite frankly) that it has a purpose...good call.

It's the best when every single subreddit I normally enjoy is taken over by the same hivemind stuff. The Ajit Pai saga was a great example.

"Happy 36th birthday" is apparently a known meme (to make fun of somebody older than 36) both in the US (just saw this on our internal email exchange) and in the Czech Republic (my apologies to @Gaucho ).

On a less funny note, TIL that a neck can have a "tennis elbow-like" disease (more precisely, the "hyoid bursitis" - which hurts like hell... )

Hammer, anvil, and stirrup. The inner ear is pretty fascinating. The pressure gradients in the cochlea that lead to high/low pitches is interesting, and the construction/function of the semicircular canals is awesome as well. I had vertigo once, though, and it was a nightmare.
