TIL I learned there is such a thing as a "Jostaberry." It's a cross of the black currant, the North American black gooseberry, and the European gooseberry.

A common method is to use a small paintbrush or swab to manually transfer pollen between the plants.

TIL the KISS song 'God Gave Rock And Roll To You' is not a KISS song, but rather a cover. All this time I thought it was original awfulness.

Lyrics were pretty heavily changed from the original Argent version, so it kind of still is...

I knew this, but I thought it was a key ingredient to the soda Josta. Oddly enough, it has nothing to do with it.

It took me years to realize that their song "Forever" is essentially a Michael Bolton song.

I remember Josta. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't all that great either. I also remember that for some reason every single can or bottle I ever tried (probably somewhere between six to a dozen) violently foamed over when opened. After the first few, I learned to open each one over a sink or trash can.

Yeah, that was sort of alarming at the time. lol

Some other fun KISS trivia: Bruce Kulick was the guitar player in a metal band Bolton was in back in the day; Ace Frehley was a drum roadie for the final Band Of Gypsies gig in NYC; Bryan Adams has co-written three of their songs; Vinnie Vincent was the songwriter on Happy Days before joining the band.

Oh man Josta... I remember when I was in 11th grade, they randomly had Josta day at school... they were handing out free cans of Josta and pencils and such... One kid had his entire locker filled with cans of josta... I ended up with a gaggle of Josta pencils which I think I used for the remainder of my time in HS as well as beyond.

I also remember one of my teachers later in the day getting angry that they were "handing out controlled substances" since everyone was bouncing off the walls. Good times.

Mother's Day in the United States is an annual holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well as the positive contributions that they make to society. Mother's Day is observed in different forms throughout the world. The American incarnation of Mother's Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914 by a presidential proclamation signed by President Woodrow Wilson.
