Several years ago a cashier at a store was blathering on about how much she loved to take pictures and wanted to shadow me on some shoots. I blew her off and haven't seen her in ages - until yesterday. She very excitedly told me that she's 50 pages into writing a mystery novel and was wondering if I'd be willing to read it and help her find a publisher. :face:

Randy Johnson seems like the inverse of Curt Schilling. Maybe I’ve just never heard the stories of being shitty but he seems like a low key, down to earth dude

Just finished Facing Nolan yesterday. He seems like a cool dude IRL, considering how intimidating he was on the mound. Some commentary from The Big Unit in there as well

I am irrationally peeved that the silhouette of the dead bird is not a silhouette of a mourning dove, which is the species of bird that Johnson hit with the pitch. That looks more like some sort of finch.

He hit a mourning dove? Those pigeon-looking, uncoordinated, chubby birds? For sure I thought they were doves released pregame during some kind of ceremony. The kind of white doves used for that type of thing.

Either way, it still doesn't look like a white dove, that part I agree

I'm surprised as well. I thought it would be something else, like a gull. But the below article has a picture of the Giants' Jeff Kent holding up the dead bird, and it's clearly a mourning dove.

In the world’s best movie, Tombstone, Val Kilmer’s character Doc Holliday does not say, “Im your huckleberry” to Michael Biehn’s character Johnny Rico. He in fact says, “Im your huckle bearer.” Huckle is another word for a pall on a casket.

Wow, then someone should probably get on the horn to the publisher of Val Kilmer's autobiography. It's called "I'm Your Huckleberry", which I'm guessing everyone involved thought was an accurate quotation of the dialog spoken by the author.
