TIL as part of the Great Leap Forward, Mao introduced the Four Pests Campaign: where the Chinese tried to eradicate mosquitos, rats, flies and...sparrows (sparrows because they were worried about the sparrows eating their crops)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Pests_campaign

as you can guess, they killed a lot of sparrows and then realized that killing the sparrows removed a predator to insects who then...ate a f*ckton of crops

I am four chapters into this. It is a harrowing read--I can't imagine being a Chinese citizen during the 60s and 70s.

Why Spicy Food Makes You Poop
It starts out with a compound called capsaicin. Capsaicin is the component in peppers that makes them spicy. It's also an irritant, which is why you feel a burning sensation when you eat something spicy. Specifically, capsaicin binds to and activates your TRPV1 receptors. TRPV1 has a lot of functions in your body, but one of its main duties is regulating temperature. When TRPV1 detects high temperatures – like from capsaicin – it signals to your brain to stimulate pain.

TRPV1 receptors are not just located in your mouth. They're scattered all throughout your body, including your gastro-intestinal (GI) system. When capsaicin triggers the TRPV1 receptors in your intestines, it makes your GI system cramp up. Basically, your GI system is stimulated more than normal and gets things going faster – making you need to poop ASAP.

Moreover, your anus actually has TRPV1 receptors too. Whatever capsaicin is not absorbed by your body during digestion is later pooped out. That's why it may have burned last time you pooped out spicy curry.

Similar to Hunter Renfrow/Renfroe in MLB and the NFL, there is a Dylan Cozens in both the NHL and MLB.

2 Yankees pitchers in the 70s literally traded wives/families: https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/base ... utType=amp
Fort Lauderdale, Fla., March 5 - Yankee pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich disclosed today that they had exchanged families several months ago, Peterson moving in with Susanne Kekich and her two daughters, Kekich moving in with Marilyn Peterson and her two sons.

The pitchers, in separate talks, said they had decided to reveal the arrangement because too many people knew about it. They thought it was time to clear the air and, the 31-year-old Peterson confided, they hoped that "you won't make anything sordid out of this."

I assumed it was going to be the proper term for the 10th dentist who doesn't agree with the rest.

It's become more about proving how much folks know about hockey and how little you know when sharing thoughts.
mikey
I heard there was a couple mods over there that were absolutely power tripping.
c2i and shaf
I’d rather the board quiet with, mostly, good conversation than to worry that your opinion will be replied with “your a moron” (yes you’re is usually spelled wrong).

Weird comment from Penny Lane:
It's become more about proving how much folks know about hockey and how little you know when sharing thoughts. Instead of moving on, every statement needs to be picked to death.
I won't allow anyone to bully me.
Is there a back story to this?

FLPensFan complaining about the clique.

Offsides is still alive.

Call out to Draftnik.

Lol, that thread is a fun read. I wasn't privy to all the shenanigans before the board split, but that ville05 guy refusing to connect the dots between a mass exodus due to a powertripping mod, and said mod practically vanishing afterwards is some fun mental gymnastics.

Also, I wonder if Scott is my uncle. I initially learned of LGP because I saw him posting on there once, but never sought him out after I eventually joined.

I like the guy who said "every thread becomes a 'we need to make roster moves' after a loss" lol.

That **** was supremely exhausting when we were back there. A loss meant a complete overhaul was needed, Crosby was a coach killer, and we needed to pick up every player other teams were putting on waivers.

#1. I really thought someone was saying you were a mayor the other day (somehow i found it more plausible than the wrestler)

#2. I think Scott is the only person I've ever known from the boards (also maybe bh/bhflyhigh?). He recommended LGP to me. I only knew him slightly as a customer. Did he live in/around Altoona?
