Is anyone else getting bombarded with those "MasterClass" ads on Facebook? The whole idea seems silly to me. David Lynch is going to teach me how to direct a movie. OK....now what?

Oh yeah, now I remember what FB rage I've had lately... Who decided it was a good idea to have videos on the mobile app stop playing and force you to leave your news feed to go to "Watch" to see the rest.

**** you. Maybe do a better job on showing me more than just the same 3 people in my feed all the time instead of wasting time making everything worse.

Speaking of Master Class and rage, I've been getting the one where Tom Morello is also gonna show me how to play guitar like him in six easy classes. No Tom, no you are not.

I've attempted to learn to play about three or four different times in my 20's, 30's, and 40's. The dream is over. I'm not gonna play like him. I'm not gonna play like anybody. I suck at playing guitar. I'm ok with this.

Just please for the love of whatever deity you choose to believe in, stop showing me this ad.

My impression of MasterClass is that it relies on the pretentiousness of everyone on both sides of the transaction.

I have three friends who are police officers, all on Facebook. Two of them are making it very difficult to remain friends based on the bullshit I see them post. The third is a sergeant who is the very definition of a good cop (and doesn’t know the other two).

I have one friend who is a cop, a black one at that, and is my brother in law. He is very sane and reasoned.

My wife has several cops and their spouses who are on the “blue lives matter” bandwagon. K now would be a good time to be introspective and shut the eff up awhile.

I haven’t commented on any of the threads, but there are multiple back and forth arguments that follow the same trend.

Friend: Not all cops are bad!
Other: Nobody is saying that. But there is a problem.
F: There’s such a low rate of police violence given how many cops there are!
O: And? What do you think about all of these videos showing the police violence?
F: That’s the media. You don’t know what it’s like being on the force!

Rinse. Repeat.

so I'm 99% twitter-free now. I'd been debating on doing it for awhile, but I finally got around to doing it last Sunday. I thought I would miss it more but I really don't. I feel like I should have gone back and said something to the people that I talked to regularly before I peaced out with zero notice. I told one friend that I'll probably resurface after a few weeks or once the Pens start up again, but as of right now I almost feel like I'm not missing anything.

So why 99%? Because I have a backup account that I use as a login to several comment sections. I don't use it to tweet or even like tweets, there is no way to trace it back to my name, and there are zero followers in common from my main account.

I’d say there’s a 60:40 ratio of “all police are bad” to “no police are bad” nonsense on my feed right now. The “all police are bad” people are just as ignorant as the “no police are bad” people, and neither group seems to understand why that stance is absolute garbage. There’s no gray area anymore online.
