A friend of mine has chosen this, the 17th day of January in the year 2020 of the Common Era, to update her Facebook profile with every single life event that has ever happened to her in the past. So my feed is now full of "[Friend] moved to Vienna, Austria (July 1, 1982)", [Friend] Moved to Los Angeles, CA (January 17, 1994)" (which was the date of the Northridge earthquake, so I'm not sure what that's all about).

I decided to not look at Facebook in a while. Deleted the app off my phone, and just haven't looked at it this week.

Last night, Facebook emails me with a notification that some random friend posted a picture. I assumed this person tagged me, so I click on the link, and it's a random placesetting at a wedding my friend is attending.

Uh, thanks? Email was sent purely to get me back to the site.

I would love to delete myself from it entirely, but living in a small town, we don't have much media. Small businesses don't update or have websites either, so that's the only way to keep up with the goings on.

Facebook's new/future layout looks just like their mobile platform (i.e., awful):

It looks hideous at 1440p. Like a post it note worth of content dead in the middle, with most of the screen empty.

Ha! Same in Somerset. I've seen at least 10 people today declare that they won't take "the Bill Gates vaccine" because it's going to have a microchip in it.

my role is 30 day snooze first. This way they get a chance to get whatever is out of their system out. If that doesn't work, I unfollow them. It gives you the option of turning them on and off as needed without asking for a new friend request. There's also the chance they get lost in the shuffle. I've unfollowed several close friends and probably didn't refollow them for probably close a year. If it wasn't for my sister asking how they were doing, I would have forgotten and thought they were the ones that stopped posting on FB.

Also, FB is much more tolerable with FB Purity. It doesn't work on the new version yet, but if you roll FB back to the classic version it works just fine.

I've been using FB Purity for years now. And yes, I've unfollowed a bunch of people, but sometimes it's just better to cut the cord.
