RCOJ's NailedPenguin's Thread of Facebook Hatred

Postby Factorial » Mon Jun 29, 2015 7:11 pm

I reactivate my Facebook account to announce to the two people that I'm moving to North Carolina to the two people that care and add some co-workers as friends. The top post on my newsfeed is
It's a scary day when Russia looks like the last best hope for humanity on planet Earth.

Article: PUTIN: AMERICA IS GODLESS, HAS TURNED AWAY FROM CHRISTIAN VALUES
I love the love that Putin has in this country.

Oh boy...
We need feminism in 2015 because it is NOT ok for your boss to tell you to "make sure you put your face on" for a meeting. Let's get a few things straight. 1) I look fabulous anyways. Not everyone is luckily enough to have this complexion. 2) Being pretty does not make me better at my job. And 3) There is no amount of mascara that's going to save someone from a tongue lashing if they ever suggest again that I have to wear it in order to appear professional.
Someone in the comments asked if he meant "game face" and she yelled at him and said no. He then suggested talking to the boss to let him know she was upset about it. He also suggested that in that sort of setting, it may be common for the boss to talk to all employees about dressing correctly and looking the part for particular meetings, both men and women. He got yelled at again. I'm gonna go pop some popcorn.

Ask her what skin care regimen she follows that gives her such a nice complexion.

My friend's band is currently trying to whore themselves out to get one more like so they can hit 300. Because some random person clicking like and never thinking about them again will do so much for them.

I mean clearly, the only thing holding them back from international stardom is being stuck on 299 likes on FB.

Last night after sharing a FB post, FB tried to tell me my computer is infected with malware. I can't log in on FB now without downloading 2 virus/malware scanners and running them to "clean" my computer. I'm 99% sure I don't have any malware and this is some sort of scam for FB to promote their partner's software. So annoying.

I highly doubt the download is from Facebook. Run screaming from that. In fact, I'd get a reputable malware scanner (even the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool if you're so inclined, MRT.exe in the C:\Windows\ folder) and scan your system now as it might already be compromised.

Yep, I'd run that and CC Cleaner.

No, it was definitely Facebook.

I ran the scans. No malware, as suspected.

ive pretty much given up on facebook. over the last 3 or so years most of my friends have deactivated their profiles or made them read only. nobody i like really uses it anymore, its just weirdos from high school or people from college who need to keep reminding themselves and everyone else that they eat out a lot and fly on lots of airplanes.

it started just unfollowing people, then i realized im only following 35 out of 600+ friends. once my friends started coordinating events via email i just have no use for it any more.

The Unfollow option is awesome. I have to stay "friends" with clients or risk offending them/losing their business, but now that I can unfollow them I don't have to be subjected to the drivel they post.

This has been clutch. For a few years, I my news feed was inundated with status updates of 'friends' from high school with whom I wasn't even really friends with at the time. Now it's updates from restaurants I've never been to, the USWNT and VFA-103 cruise photos...... which, if I'm being honest, is really no different in tenor than the status updates from the non-friends.

Did Hockeynut report it?

The board did hiccup for 15 seconds while I posted. Only thing special was the @ page command.

It rendered after I posted it, btw.

Sorry blackjack. Just some collateral damage with trying to delete dodint's post so you can actually open the thread. I think one of shmenguin's posts got deleted as well.

I would have considered having this thread locked permanently my greatest contribution to 5AF. Right up there with the dodint filter.
