Why do you guys say Warby Parker and then WB are those different things?
Mine was a typo. I meant WP (as in Warby Parker).

Thanks for all the help, everyone! I think I'm going to get a pair but only to use when I'm working at the computer in the evenings as that's the only time I notice blurriness. I'm checking out the online sites too. I have a wide (aka fat) face so I need something on the larger side.
I know that Zenni Optical offers an option for you to upload a pic of your face, and if you enter in your pupil distance, it'll show a pretty accurate depiction of what they'll look like on your face.
What I like about Warby Parker is they will send you up to five frame samples to try on. If you don't like any of them, send them back and request 5 more.

For all the Zenni users out there, do you know if you can get hardware from them? Or where to buy 'generic' fasteners for eyeglasses? One of the screws on my primary frames fell out of the ear stem and now it's all wiggly.

The eyeglass kits you buy at the drug store will come with an assortment of small screws to use for replacement.

A lot of drugstores and similar places will sell generic eyeglass-repair kits that come with screws. Hit up the local Walgreens, or Wal-Mart and see if they have them. They're usually in the same place as the contact-lens stuff.

I'd just swing by a drug store or convenience store and grab one of the kits

The only issue is this was a two-piece kind of deal; a male screw goes from the inside of the stem hinge connector, through the stem itself, and into a female cap on the outside. The screw and the cap have disappeared.

I opened this thread, came to a Craig post, and was shocked that he was posting again.

I've been wearing Ovvo frames for the last year or so, one of their steel/titanium models. If you've ever seen an ad where a 45-pound barbell weight is hanging from a pair of frames, Ovvo is that brand. They weren't cheap at over $200 for the frames, but they are super lightweight and incredibly durable. Their steel/titanium models are basically cut out of a thin sheet of the alloy, and the only screws are holding in the lenses; the hinges for the ear pieces do not use any screws. Even using high-index lenses, I have pretty think lenses, and the super light weight of the Ovvos really helps. Will totally buy again, and IMO worth the price.

No I know, but I hadn't opened it originally so it took me to his post first, which is why I thought it was new at first. Definitely not the first time that's happened.

Huh. I went to Zenni last week and searched specifically for repair kit and got nothing. Ended up just reordering a whole new pair of glasses (which I am wearing now) and relegating the par-busted ones to backup duty in my EDC bag.

Well... if it's any consolation, they're cheap. Cheap enough that I buy 2-3 pair and just use them as disposable. "Oh, these ones broke? good thing I have all these other ones I can throw on my face..."

That is a nice kit for $7. However ,if you need that many replacement screws... you are doing something very wrong.

That's pretty much how we use them, too. When Mrs Tif got her first pair, she liked them and then immediately went online and ordered like six more right away. I think I have four or five total (different styles).

It's also useful to have spares stashed in key spots: I always carry a second pair in my backpack, I leave a pair at work, there's a pair on my dresser that tags along when we go out to eat, etc.

I've had glasses for 35 years. Never broke a pair and certainly never lost one.

I don't recall ever breaking a pair of glasses, although I have had to bend a couple pairs back into shape after, for example, falling asleep while wearing them and ending up sleeping on them. I've definitely never lost a pair. My vision is terrible and has been since I was a kid, so the only times I ever take my glasses off is to bathe or sleep. If I'm not in bed or the shower, they're on my face. I also don't wear contacts (I've never liked the idea of sticking things in my eyes), so I never swap the glasses out for contacts.

I broke a couple playing intramural soccer getting smacked in the face. I also lost a pair playing racquetball. I took them off to go play, came back and someone stole them. Or I lost them. I don’t know.

Best part with Zenni is cheap rx sunglasses. I have numerous pairs stashed all sorts of places.

since this thread got bumped.....

I just got my 2nd pair of "custom" clip ons from these guys:
https://www.88clipon.com/

I don't wear my glasses much but it's nice to have perfect fitting clip-ons when I do. my eyeglasses are Oakley so I just searched on the model I wear, chose the correct size and lens color I wanted and they were in my mailbox in less than a week. not cheap but worth every penny, IMO.
