picked up my wife yesterday from the latrobe airport and we went to primanti bros. We were both not dressed for anything nicer than fast food but decided to stop there anyway. My waiter charged me for 3 refills on our drinks (coke/diet coke). So I had like $15 in charges for pop. When I called it to his manager's attention he told me that was their policy. I kinda laughed but said, ok well whatever you say. Pretty sure the guy was smoking crack or something. Anyway, I Karen'd online not expecting much and within an hour got $20 credit in my PBros app. So good on them. I know they get a lot of flack but I rarely have a bad experience in their joints.

We go to the Primanti Bros in the Waterfront fairly often (or at least we did pre-COVID). It's always been free refills. Actually, I can't think of the last place that charged for a refill. That's some 1980s ****.

Same here - can't recall any restaurant that charges for refills.

I can't even think of when I last ate inside a Primanti Bros. Has to have been 5 years. I wouldn't go if there weren't free refills. That stuff costs them pennies for the syrup and CO2.

We tried to go out for dinner in Robinson last Friday at about 8:45. The Yard- closed at 9. Quaker Steak- closed at 9. Industry Public House- open till 2 AM but huge crowd outside waiting for a table, probably because everyplace else closes at 9. Didn't go to Burgatory because my son was not with us and he loves Burgatory. Ended up at Longhorn which is meh, but I had an old pre covid gift card in my wallet so it was free.

Yeah, maybe a little mom and pop diner that sells pop in cans or bottles, but yeah. I agree. I was perplexed and didn't feel like fighting with the guy.

I’m sure this applies to their Shaler location as well, but the newly opened California Taco Shop in Wexford is fantastic.

I want to say that the US might be unique in this. I was watching some YouTube videos along the lines of "things foreign visitors to the US are really surprised about," and IIRC one of them was free refills. I don't think that's common elsewhere. TIL that France actually banned free/unlimited refills in 2017 as an anti-obesity measure.

A popular restaurant for wings has shut its doors in Cambria County.

Quaker Steak & Lube in Richland Township closed its doors for the final time Friday. It was open for nearly a decade.

The company posted a sign to the door thanking its customers for their support over the years and says the decision to close was due to circumstances facing the industry.

The original one in Sharon was always way better quality than all the other ones. Not sure if that’s still the case.

Louisiana Lickers was about the end of it. When they started bottling and selling their sauces, that was good enough for me to stop going.

Real Thai Cuisine in Cranberry. The kangaroo's authentic thai friend (as in, she grew up in thailand, came here for school, and moved back to Thailand last year with her white boy husband) deemed it to be the #1 thai place in pgh.
Dude. Finally had this place tonight. Unbelievable. Easily the best Thai food I’ve ever had and honestly some of the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten. I’m beyond impressed.

It is. In college heading to Sharon for lube wings was a huge deal. Still go a couple times a year. Not quite actual Buffalo but close enough.

The one inn Robinson is OK but the one in Cranberry is bad.

We were up that way as well. Decided to just try out Coal Miner's Diner on the way back now that it's under new ownership. The atmosphere is the same and it has a large menu so I'm pretty happy with it. Was surprised to find it open at 7pm on a Sunday.

It's so bad in Cranberry it's been closed for good since mid COVID. It's simply falling a part now.

Yeah, they're pretty good.

@dodint - JB's also closes at 3pm on Sundays, so I wasn't holding back on you. ;)

It probably should go without saying but I'll mention it anyway. The Guy Fieri restaurant inside the Live! Casino at Westmoreland mall is not good. My Dad invited us to try it and paid with the comps on his players account so I didn't really lose anything by going, except maybe a bit of small intestine.

The food is below Applebee's quality and the atmosphere is just weird. It's cramped and is a diner motif that doesn't match the menu items (diner booths but with NY strip, salmon, etc.). The mixed drinks were strong, though.

I haven't tried it yet. Sports and Social (upstairs) wasn't terrible. And on Fridays they give you $20 in food credit if you place a $20 bet on sports. So it's essentially a free bet if you were going to eat there otherwise
