We would go to Rock Bottom every now and then because it was super convenient. But yeah, it had been bad for a while now. Ever since re-opening after Covid the service was horrible and the menu kept getting smaller. I was trying to come up with who I'd like to see take over the space but couldn't come up with anything great. It'll have to be a chain since I doubt a local joint could pay Waterfront prices.

Seems like a Red Lobster space.

My wife worked at Rock Bottom throughout her time at Duquesne. She by and large enjoyed the people that worked there and the overall environment. I was only there a few times and give it the same grade as the marsupial... it was okay. That was in the late 2000's though. No clue what it was like now.

I didn't hate rock bottom. Though I never went post pandemic. I'm betting an entertainment/restaurant combo will come in like shorty's or coop Deville.

Shortys is already at the old bar Louie spot. It’s not great and really lacking in the “entertainment” department.

The only thing that place has going for it is old German on tap

How much is it going for? A bar in my town has it for 75 cents.

The perks of living in a small town I guess.

I bought 2 for $1 during happy hour one time.

Any good inexpensive spots in the USC/Lebo area? Mrs. F wants to go to Trader Joe's and figured we'd make a date out of it. Going out for our anniversary tomorrow so not looking to be too spendy tonight.

I don't know your definition of inexpensive, but in Lebo you've got Il Pizzaiolo, Cafe iO, Mediterra, Gordo's Taco Diablo, Totopo, Aladdin's, and Sesame Inn. South Hills Village area of USC you've got The Porch and Bonefish Grill. Pabellon on Banksville is fantastic. If you want the full South Hills yinzer experience just go to Pasta Too in Bethel Park and act like it's the height of culture and cuisine.

I'd say inexpensive = $50 or less for the two of us not including cocktails.

Scratch Taco Diablo. Closed and reopened recently under a different concept so I have no idea if it's good. I think any of those what fit in your price range depending on what you order. I do like Bonefish as a chain place but would probably go for one of the places in Lebo. Cafe iO or Mediterra would be at the top of my list.

I know the dude who runs Cafe iO, really nice guy, so, that's good enough for me to give it a vote as well.

I love Pasta Too.

That's been built since I lived there. What used to be there?

I delivered Pizza/Hoagies for Danny's for three summers and went through that intersection hundreds of times at least.

Hmmmmm. I have vague memories of it being an old school Burger King that got torn down and rebuilt as Pasta Too. They've been there for at least 15 years if not longer. Pasta Too was originally in a tiny hole in the wall place on 88 by the Tennyson that's now a laundry mat. Also, I have no idea the quality now but for my money there wasn't an Italian hoagie in the south hills better than Danny's.
