OG Pamela’s in Squirrel Hill closing in January.
Great breakfast, but it being cash only and always insane made us not go as often as we would have liked.
It hasn’t been cash only for a long time. Bummed it’s closing.
We haven't been there for a few years honestly, but I know last time we went it was still cash only.

I guess we last went before we were married so I guess 3 to 4 years ago? Maybe I'm crazy lol.

I would say probably the last 2-3 years. Basically this is all your fault.

*I’m super wrong. They just started accepting cards at the start of the pandemic. To be fair, it feels like 2-3 years ago.

Every year my wife's birthday is the same. A few days before Valentine's Day. We don't celebrate Valentine's Day for a variety of reasons. So I have no real awareness that it's coming. Except, every year I get completely blocked out on reservations because of VD. On the one hand I feel like a putz, but on the other hand can't you people just get a room?

We'll be taking in the six-course evening of dining at Helen's in Seven Springs on the 26th. My wife used to go there as a tween with her Aunt and she has great memories from there. I've been wanting to take her for 20 year now.

Yet another fire at Bellisario's in the N. Hills. Closed again. Seems there's one every couple years there.

Had dinner at The Lot at Edgewater on Friday. Nice place, good food, extremely overpriced. Saturday was Garbarino's. Very good chicken parm with a side of homemade rigatoni. Top notch. Tonight we're trying The Eagle.

I know it's not the best restaurant, however my pregnant wife likes the pretzels and bier cheese and we had a large crowd. That said.. man Hofbrauhaus has gone downhill. Slow service, menu is a lot smaller (no sauerkraut balls, wat, that's like the second best thing on their menu), and it's just so expensive. I guess everywhere is.. 2 beers, 2 lunches and a kids meal was $78. HUH

Ate at the Eagle in Columbus pre pandemic. It is good if you like fried chicken

Have any of yinz been to any of the De Fer locations? My friend from high school is the owner... She's built quite a successful business. I stopped there last visit, it was outstanding.

Also, went to lunch yesterday at a sit down restaurant. Two burgers and an unsweetened iced tea. Total price pre tip: $37.

Why eat out?

Sammy's Corned Beef is closing on the 25th. Big bummer, one of the best places to pop in for a drink downtown.

My dad retired last year after working downtown for like 35+ years. Sammy’s was pretty much the only place he was ever interested in going to for lunch in town. I’m pretty sure that no matter the time or day, there were always some bar flies lingering about. There aren’t that many old school downtown dumps and we are losing another dump. I’d prefer to have at least a few dumps in town, and I’m sad this one is gone.

At one point I can remember multiple of them. (I think three?) The Burger King near the courthouse at the intersection of Forbes and Diamond used to be one, that's for sure.
