Speaking of food trucks, Driftwood Oven, which started out as a mobile wood-fire pizza enterprise, now has a permanent location in lower Lawrenceville. Great pizza and even better people behind it. :thumb:

Food truck park seems like it would be hipster central.
My experience is that just a food truck lot =/= awash in man buns. However, a food truck lot with a beer & wine license is virtual death sentence. We had one like that near our old apartment that always had really good trucks, but we always got it to go because the vide was awful.

No idea how I had never been there before, but Point Brugge Cafe was one of the best meals I've ever had in this city.

They have good brunch, I don't think I've ever come away too excited about the dinner though.

stopped in at the Elrama Tavern and that place has terrific bar food. Their prime rib was awesome.

*UNPOPULAR PGH FOOD OPINION*

Nicky's is only ok.
Having finally eaten there I have to say; you're stupid.

Had a delightful lunch. Everything served was 10/10. Looking forward to going again.

For all of the great Chinese and Vietnamese options here, it is our great lament that we have yet to discover a single even passably acceptable Thai place since we moved. But it doesn't help that Mrs Tif is unshakably rigid in her ordering habits - panang curry or bust - so if that one dish does not pass muster, the restaurant gets scratched off the list. I'm more willing to freelance, but even at that I have only had one or two places that I'd even be willing to bother ordering from a second time for the same dish.

I wonder how much the x is better than y thai comes down to what dishes you like.

My 2 go-tos @ Nicky's are the spicy basil fried rice w/ chicken and garlic chicken. I also love their crab rangoons and the green thai iced tea.

I haven't eaten at the other spots, but I wonder if they have similar dishes.

I'm not huge on pad thai or curries.

I like thai cottage, nickis, thai curry on murray, and siam thai on first ave and Smithfield. siams is a hole and the wall and good imo. there needs to be more places like siam in town.

Went to Curry on Murray once and thought it was v bad. But that was long ago, and with such crap as Bangkok Balcony, I have been under the impression that Thai in squirrel hill is ****.

Silk elephant is serviceable (assuming it's still there probably haven't been in a decade).

I tried BB once and it was also bad. Seems like a vestige of a prior era.

So about Nicky's... My sister's friend works for the Health Department and apparently they had to shut them down. Not sure if this was one location or whatnot yet... But apparently it was really bad... Like Gordon Ramsay has a field day bad.

That would be surprising, at least at the Mt. Nebo location.
