Not saying she's wrong, but her numbers seem to be a bit off.
Also, there's no mention of surge rates or writing off your vehicle and various other expenses on your taxes.

My driver told me last night, "give me 5 stars and I'll give you 5 stars".
The ratings are a total sham. But I didn't watch the video above. I assume it isn't about the rating system.

That's what I was gonna say. You can't talk about taxes being a negative and the car depreciation which is something you're getting back as an unreimbursed expense. That was a waste of time. Getting in my uber now ttylNot saying she's wrong, but her numbers seem to be a bit off.

Uber drivers are becoming as obnoxious as fast food employees right now.
It's not a career you asshats.

I know a cab driver in Pittsburgh, who also drives for Uber. It seems like a shitty way to make a living (especially the Uber part).
I will never use uber again and you shouldn't either
The only thing I don't like about Uber is surge pricing.

I assumed this thread was about getting rejected by another driver.

Why?The only thing I don't like about Uber is surge pricing.

Surge pricing (which I'm guessing is the technical term for the increase in price during peak hours) seems like standard supply and demand.
Uber is great when you're out drinking and don't want a DUI. Otherwise I never use it.

So it's okay to charge 1.9x base rate to help evacuate people out of a natural disaster? Ordinarily that's called profiteering.
It's also something taxi companies, for a variety of reasons, cannot do.

Wait, am I supposed to never use Uber because it doesn't pay enough to the people who voluntarily sign up to be drivers? If being an Uber driver pays poop money, then stop being an Uber driver. Problem solved.

But, but corporations have a duty to be social service agencies and pay people a ton of money for no talent necessary work.

It's not a duty, the price is the fcking price. Unless.... then it's twice that. And we're not going to tell you until you request/need the ride. Haha, joke's on you, noob.

Then don't use Uber.

Considering how much money Uber is spending on the development of autonomous-car technology, this "Uber pays crap money" problem will solve itself in a few years when Uber cuts human drivers out of the picture entirely and just deploys its own fleet of autonomous people haulers.

I assume an "autonomous people hauler" will be out of the average person's price range, otherwise why wouldn't I just use my own vehicle.

I'd recommend not running into a natural disaster with your 20 year old Camry, actually. So it's okay to charge 1.9x base rate to help evacuate people out of a natural disaster? Ordinarily that's called profiteering.
It's also something taxi companies, for a variety of reasons, cannot do.
San Francisco has implemented "demand based" pricing for paid parking (as has DC at this point) and it has reduced congestion and made parking spaces available nearly all the time while not pricing people out of the market.
You sound like the kind of person that screws up traffic because you hate the zipper merge based on some disjointed idea of 'fair' that only accounts for your worldview instead of everyone's well being.

Because you're drunk.I assume an "autonomous people hauler" will be out of the average person's price range, otherwise why wouldn't I just use my own vehicle.

I read a cool projection last night that autonomous vehicles will cause a huge spike in traffic. Users 65+ and 16-24 will be on the roads in much higher numbers and tie everything up. Also with folks not having to drive the interstate anymore and the presumptive higher speeds allowed for non-human drivers means regional airline routes will dry up.I assume an "autonomous people hauler" will be out of the average person's price range, otherwise why wouldn't I just use my own vehicle.
Cool stuff.
