I bought this one this afternoon while I was out.

That's one I've owned before. Very good. Take care of the grates.

I'd suggest buying some food-grade felt tape strips to seal the edges of the cover. and the join between the side box and main cooking chamber. You might also consider getting a piece of plastic to put down on the bottom shelf thing; in my experience the large format mesh type deal they've got there isn't ideal.

I find myself in need of adding a gas grill option to the patio. Where we live now tends to be windy a lot of the time, and I'm not keen on lighting an open fire in that environment, and having embers blowing around.

How much size do you need? If you just need something small and basic, I had a Weber Q for many years (I gave it to my brother when I bought a larger grill), and I liked it a lot. It doesn't offer the ability to do indirect heat or more advanced techniques like that that, though.

I bought the Char-griller Gas grill/smoker combo last year and I love it.

Just a couple hundred square inches of cooking surface. (So like 2 burners) I'm not too worried about radiant cooking with this thing, it's purely the windy day backup for stuff like skirt steaks on Taco Tuesday.

Well, remember that grill I bought?

Turns out it never came in stock at Lowe's and we ended up with a $300 grill and only had to pay $100.

Surprised Lowes didn't bone you. They have done it to me on several occasions.

That OK Joe thing is a fantastic smoker, but the CharGriller is a better direct-heat option imo. To my knowledge you can't adjust the height relationship between the coals and grates, so heat is sort of binary.

Does anyone have any experience with Blackstone griddles? My brother-in-law got one and loves it.

He got this one: https://blackstoneproducts.com/collecti ... ng-station

My only issue is requires a bit more cleaning than a regular grill, but I could do the whole Huddle House thing outside: pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns all on the same griddle!

I have that exact one and love it. I’ve made pancakes, eggs, bacon, home fries, etc. for breakfast and everything turned out great. I’ve also made cheesesteaks and burgers and toasted the buns on there. Sunday I made crab melt sandwiches. There’s a slight learning curve but I find myself actively searching for things to make on it. As far as cleaning, I actually think it’s easier than my gas grill. It’s all surface area and a grease trap. No burners, etc. getting grease covered.

Once I invest in a porch roof, I want to get one.
