Agreed. Makes me want to listen just so I can be angry about it.

Anybody listening to Office Ladies? I was really looking forward to it but it's straight up bad. The problem is they're coming at the show almost like two friends getting together at a reunion and looking back on high school antics. They haven't watched any episodes since the show aired, so unfortunately I end up knowing more trivia than they do. And all they talk about is how much fun it was to shoot. So much "teehee" and "oh my goodness remember the director asked us just to adlib about planning the party and we did 25 minutes and it was SO funny and they only kept in this 2 minute scene and I can see why but oh my goodness was it funny don't you remember it being funny?"

Maybe this show isn't made for me.

Started listening to Bagman by Rachel Maddow. The parallels between the Nixon admin and the current admin are staggering (which I'm sure was completely intentionally done by the production team). Never really knew much of anything about Agnew. It's interesting to hear how it all went down so far.

My wife started listening to this podcast called "My dad wrote a porno". It's basically this guy who wrote a book of erotic literature. His son reads the book and his two friends listen along. It's one of the funniest things I've ever heard. Partly because the book is written so "Badly". It's hard to explain, but it's really funny.

Andy Daly showed up on Conan's podcast, and unsurprisingly, he is hilarious: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a ... 0468367415

Most of you know I am a huge fan of classic TV, especially Carson. I've been listening to the Carson Podcast--it is exceptionally well done and Mark Malkoff gets some great guests on there (Chevy Chase, Carl Reiner 3x, Jimmy Buffett, etc.) talking about their experiences with the Tonight Show.

Serial put out a commercial for some side project that is coming up. Unsubscribed.

I've been working my way through the Bill Burr/Bert Kreischer podcast. Unsurprisingly, it's hilarious.

This is pretty common. I didn't listen because I never listen to those. But also the name of the podcast annoyed me.

Yeah, the commercial/promo thing happens all the time. But the project itself sounded uninspired, and after S-Town they're going to have to earn my love back. ;)

I've given a few of those (Bill/Bert) a try...it's an interesting dynamic change for those that listened to old MMPs because now Burr is more the straight man for Bert, who is a big dumb ox...so it's Bert that can't figure out the world and Bill is sage wisdom on things...even though Burr is probably only a few years older than him...

Burr seems a little impatient, even, with Bert sometimes in some episodes...it has some funny stuff in it, mostly because I like stories though...

I'm with you there. Serial had so much momentum after that first season, basically influenced an entire huge new genre, and then put out that boring second season and killed everything. Season 3 was fine but they haven't been able to recreate that first season.

I just typed that out and then went on the top charts to see Nice White Parents is the #1 podcast. So what the hell do I know?

I love Bert on podcasts and hate his standup. His other show with Tom Segura is great as well.

There is a Youtube channel that takes snippets of Burr's podcast and matches it with video clips of the subject matter he's talking about. It's not fair to judge Burr on his 'performance' in that context; however, he comes across as lethargic, uninspired, and bored on those things. Makes me really appreciate the polished chaos of his actual comedy.

NSFW language, duh:

Two bears one cave or whatever... ? I've been meaning to give that a listen, but I'm hypnotized by Rogan's marathon podcasts because I like conversations...I just like to hear the exchange of whatever nonsense ideas...

Like, even goofball stuff, like when him and Post Malone did shrooms and just shot the **** for four hours...I'm all about that for some reason...it's just very, I don't know, relatable...

The next time Rogan has a UFC guy on, maybe I'll take some time off and visit that...as I like Segura a lot...

I don't care for The Machine's standup either...

I fell into a Brody Stevens Brody rabbit hole today. If you have some time to kill, The Brody Stevens Interview Challenge on youtube are great. A little Between Two Ferns-ish (also created by Hot Saucerman).

What are your recommendations for short form (8 to 20 minutes) podcasts? I only have one and could use one or two more. Everything else is 45 minutes to two hours and I struggle to fit those in. I just recently cut a few podcasts loose because I am hopelessly behind.

I didn't think that'd be a tough question, but going through my podcast library it's a lot harder than I thought. Lore and Criminal are good ones that tend to run around 30 minutes. The vast majority of my list are hour long shows.

Right? For me the only one that qualifies anymore is 'Lehto's Law' which is a consumer protection podcast. The only other one I ever had that was this short and good was the Federal News Network podcast that had daily FedGov news, but it's not as interesting as it sounds. ;)

I think the really short podcasts are harder to sell ads for which is why they might not be as prolific.

Seems like only short podcasts are daily news ones.

I like Short Wave on NPR. Short sciency-stuff that's usually around 8-12 mins long, daily. Obviously it's been covid-heavy as of late, but there's a large backlog to go through.
