Commercials that I hate

Holy crap the Amazon holiday ads are terrible. I saw the snowboarding dog one about 500x this weekend.

Also, am I crazy or does the Progressive Replay ad with the couple in the car with the open sunroof have two different endings? Like for months, I saw it as the husband getting **** on for leaving the sunroof open. Then over the weekend, in between Amazon ads, I saw him say "Oh, let me get that for you" as he closes the sunroof, insinuating that she left it open. Or was I hallucinating?

Yeah, that's pretty normal. There are often multiple versions of the same 'story' within an ad campaign. They're usually cutdowns (one will be longer than the other). Sticking with the Replay ads I think I've seen 2 or 3 versions of the Von Miller+Stefon Diggs gold suit.

I thought someone mentioned this but ads for prescription medication in general, but wow that Jardiance singing and dancing commercial, where the lady actually does a costume change in the middle and it goes on for like 5 minutes... ugh. It actually makes me angry.

State Farm ads are the worst because of how uncharismatic Jake from State Farm is. They took one small character from an actually funny commercial, race swapped him and then he like…just gives Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid all the space to make jokes? it’s so uninspiring

Flo, Limu Emu and Doug, and Mayhem are at least funny at times. The Gecko isn’t that entertaining but at least he’s the main character in his commercials. Jake is just a guy who’s been in a commercial a bunch but is void of all personality

That's the deal though, he's the straight man to the Mahomes/Reid and formerly Rodgers goofball football players and whatever other characters they put in the commercials.

The race swap was weird to me. He went from a sorta chunky white guy in a call center to an in shape black guy just being a spokesperson. But hey still Jake from State Farm.

Not sure why all the zany commercials are for insurance. I guess because there's no scenario where insurance is fun. Best case you're shelling out an amount you think is reasonable (but it was no longer worth shopping around) and get nothing in return. Oh what fun.

from what I had heard (not sure how true it is), insurance companies spend so much on advertising because their offering are all effectively the same. That said, I never particularly understood it still because I use independent agents to help me find rates

tik tok has a commercial where a doctor talks about “spreading the word” against drunk driving by creating videos talking about how his son was killed by a drunk driver

idk there’s something very icky to me about that commercial. A guy who markets himself as a doctor against drunk driving on social media (feels like it could be attention whore-y) shilling at best something that’s killing the next generations attention span and at worst is Chinese espionage technology

Jake from State Farm became Jake from State Farm in a commercial where they ask "do they always ask if you're wearing khakis?" I remembered the commercial once somebody else mentioned it. But why not go with a different character name vs trying to keep an ongoing story? It's not like the character had an extensive history in their ads like Flo.

Jake sucks.
Flo (and especially Flo's crew) sucks.
Limu Emu sucks.
Doug really sucks.
Liberty Biberty sucks.

Mayhem is cool.

State Farm coulda done the logical thing and just handed over the reigns to the girl from 4E, but nooo, "Jake" was too iconic of a character.

Not sure if any of you in here have Roku, but my hate for them is that they run the same ten commercials in the same order. My sister watches a lot of Bones, CSI, NCIS, etc and it's the same ads over and over and over on whatever channel that is.

Emeril gets two ads for his channel.
Martha Stewart get an ad for her channel. According to her ad, apparently she's a bit of a multi-tasker.
There's an CSI ad where Doug is a delivery guy on ho island and ends up getting choked out while getting back into his truck. That one is on so much that even when my mom sees that it's on, she's like "don't do it, Doug!"
And I can't forget The Marriage Pact, The Lincoln Logs show, and the ads for the Kevin Hart movie and the Weird Al movie, both of which have been out for almost a year now.

Had I typed this out over the weekend, I could have told you the order that they are always being run.
