Other than Lernerville which I don't think is NASCAR sanctioned, what's the closest track to Pittsburgh for oval racing? Bristol? Pocono?

Pocono is 4.5
Michigan is 4.5
Kentucky is 5.25
Dover is 5.5
Indy 5.75
Bristol 6.25

In terms of NASCAR top 3 series...Regional shows I can't speak to.

I am really going to make a concerted effort to get out to some of the somewhat local raceways this year. There are some great dirt tracks in central PA, at Williams Grove and Port Royal.

I might do a Track Night in America at Pocono. Really wanted to last year but couldn't get it together. Problem is they generally happen midweek so I have to take two days off work to do it.

IT’S DAYTONA DAY :puke:
3.5 hours of prerace. That’s nearly the length of the race.

Man, it feels weird having a Daytona 500 start without Earnhardt Jr. running it. I got into NASCAR in 2001 (which honestly seems like the good old days compared to now) and immediately latched onto him, as many others were wont to do. I need a new driver to pull for.

In the old days, the kids came up wrecked a car and they got themselves hurt and wised up. The cars are safe enough that hopefully we won’t see a driver die anytime soon, but hopefully they continue to wreck millions of dollars and the owners start to realize that maybe experience is worth the salary

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ct ... y,amp.html
Patrick's final NASCAR race at the Daytona 500 captured her career to perfection. She had photojournalists embedded with her, a hunky celebrity NFLQB boyfriend by her side, social media buzzing — and a crumpled Chevy towed to the garage that put a premature end to her race.

Her final win-loss record was a dud: 0 for 191 in the Cup series.

"I hope they remember me as a great driver and that I was a woman and it was really cool to watch and be there for," Patrick said.

"Who's that girl with Aaron Rodgers?!" one fan cracked.
Chicago Tribune killing it.

Ugh...
Silver spoon, only had a shot because there were only 8 cars without damage, and pretty much drove through the leader at 200 to win. Derrick Cope wishes he were as lucky,

That crowd at Richmond looks like what a Busch Grand National race used to look like.

Best thing that could happen to NASCAR
The family that controls NASCAR is working with Goldman Sachs to identify a potential deal for the company.

The real important question is what would that mean for IMSA?

Went to the Coca Cola 600 yesterday which was my second race ever

Man that **** issue fun. I can see how people can get bored by it but the atmosphere is awesome. My voice is gone from all the drunken yelling

Also won $30 from two head to head bets (Jimmie Johnson beating both Erik Jones and Arik Almirola)

Nice, glad you went. We did it a few years ago and you are right, fun atmosphere. It was the only race I have seen in its entirety in the last 15 years or so.

I don't really watch it anymore, but out of curiosity I checked to see who the winners were this year over 14 races. Harvick (5), Ky Busch (4), Truex Jr. (2), Logano, Bowyer, Dillon. That's it.

Bowyer's was a total fluke as well. NASCAR is insanely boring right now. No depth, only 10 guys who have a legit chance of winning week to week and are always up front.

From what I get from twitter, Dale Jr in the booth is a bigger hit that the racing. And that they want the Saturday cars at Eldora. Hard to find time to watch them live, much less figure out who is next to root for with Jr retired. Between RCR connections (Harvick taking over the 3 car) and the two that grew up in Jr's Busch/NW/Xfinity teams - Keselowski and Truex, it's a nice pool. But no idea which one is primary.
