Had poison ivy rashes that got so bad I had to go to urgent care and get a steroid shot in the ass and get put on prednisone and antibiotics for the next 10 days.
Fun times.

These steroids are making me wired up.. and wanting to eat everything in sight.
I have to take 4 per day for the first 4 days , 3 per day for 3 days, 2 per day for 2, then 1 on the last day. Plus an antibiotic 4 times a day for the next 10 days.
I had to take two benadryls to just calm myself down enough to sleep a few hours last night. The rash if finally starting to clear up a bit though thankfully. I guess I **** myself up pretty bad with the mix of creams I tried to stop the itch...rash plus infection fun times.

Been there and that sht sucks. I had severe cases of poison ivy 6 or 7 years in a row when I was in grade school. Huge amounts of swelling and rashes everywhere, steroids every time.

Today is the last day of my medication for the poison ivy stuff.... and this has been a miserable 10 days (plus the 4 or so days I was to stubborn to go to the docctor).
Just in the last day or so have I actually started to feel kind of normal again and not wanted to rip the skin off of my legs. I'm assuming it's going to take another week or so for it to completely clear up, but ....this has been brutal.

My legs itched just reading that.

Allergies are horrible so far this year. Had to take so much antihistamine last night that I slept for 12 hours. Probably not a good thing.

Last night I had about the worst pain (randomly) I've ever had on my left side near/below my rib cage. It started kind of dull, but by 11pm or so...no matter what way I laid or moved it hurt like a mofo. Took some ibruprofen.. did nothing. I finally fell asleep at like 3 am and woke up at 5 and it was basically gone.
My wife seemed concerned and thought it could have been my gallbladder. I almost went to the ER last night, but brushed it off. Guess we will see how the rest of the day goes.

Gas bubble. Take some GasX or store brand and you’ll be good.

I've had plenty of kidney stones...this wasn't to that level of pain. I've been fine today it seems...so I dunno.

You just had your 2nd shot of Pfizer, no? Could be menstrual cramping.

I believe gallbladder pain wraps to your back. I’m thinking gas bubble because that happens to me periodically

anybody ever needed to get a second opinion on something (medical)? my broken finger still isn't healed. it's still swelling, I can only bend the middle knuckle about 30%, can't bend the small knuckle at all, the tip still doesn't full feeling. a radiology tech friend says I should be talking to a hand specialist. I've never had an issue before where I had to seek a second opinion. thoughts? experiences?

If it’s been this long, you should be at a hand specialist.

I def got a second opinion when I tore my labrum. 1st doc said complete labrum tear, perhaps damage to the bicep tendon, could be out for 6 months. 2nd doc said minor tear, very small chance what the 1st doc said was true. Out 2-4 weeks. Went with a 3rd opinion and they agreed with the 2nd doc.
With your case, I've broken several finger bones when I was younger and never had any major issues. How did you break it? Could be a small dislocation or some bone fragments in there. Or like blackjack said, tendon damage. Not sure if a hand specialist is really necessary, perhaps just a better orthopedist.

I blocked a slapshot in beer league hockey. I wouldn't have thought a D league slapshot could do that but here we are.

I didn't even have x-rays in the ER. my first x-ray was 2 weeks later at the ortho. doctor says he's consulted with a hand specialist and "should heal on it's own". there's definitely been improvement but it kind of upsets me that the ortho didn't even want to see me for a follow-up past 6 weeks post injury. they didn't even recommend PT.
I've got an appt for a second opinion tomorrow morning with a completely different practice.

Any good recommendations for seasonal allergies? I didn't have allergies until my mid 20's, and early on over-the-counter stuff like Claritin worked. My body seemed to adjust to the baby Claritin so I stepped up to Claritin D. That worked for a year or two, but now I'm at the point multiple over-the-counter drugs have been tried to no avail.

I was at two 180mg Allegra a day (morning with breakfast then before bed). I ran out and used Zyrtec before bed, which helped more at night.
Now that I've replenished the Allegra, I take one in the morning, then a Zyrtec at night. Seems to be the perfect combo.
