Tested positive for sleep apnea. Round two of testing on 2/12. Yay me.
CPAP...no big deal. And you'll feel markedly better. Totally worth it.
What is problematic: the requirement by your insurance company you attend a pulmonologist on a twice yearly basis so he/she can collect a tier-one co-pay.

Below is a transcript of my recent $45.00 visit

Doc: Heeeyyyyy, good to see you again, Mr. Staw- z-ak. How're you doing?
Me: Good. Still sleeping much better, just like last time, and the time before that, and the time before that.
Doc: Good! Good!
(Doc notices Penguins jacket, proceeds to re-enact last years January visit)
Doc: You're a hockey fan!
Me: Yup. Yup.
Doc: Nice...Nice.
Awkward silence
Doc: Well, good to see you again, Mr. ...
Me: Same here, Doc.
Doc: See you in six months!
(pumps my hand vigorously)
Me: Looking forward to it.
Lol.
My co-pay is only $30. So, bring it on, doc.

Do you sleep with your arm under your head?
Not that I know of.

This actually might be part of something larger, as I've been having weird muscle twitches in that hand/arm for like a year and a half. Like, sometimes when I raise a glass to take a drink, if I'm holding it a certain way I look like a mild Parkinson's case with the way my hand moves. I had a spasm the other day where I more or less knocked over a freshly popped bottle of beer as I was reaching for it.

Look into medical cannabis.
Helps Parkinson's. Does not help avoiding clumsily knocking things over.

The lower right quadrant of my back is on fire. I'm not sure if I pulled a muscle or what

Well. Concussion #2 last night. Playing frisbee. Went for a floaty disc and got blindsided. Hopefully recovery is better than last tone, and I don't end up with the shingles again.

How does one relate to the other, re: concussion and shingles?

Bodily stress. I sat out a month. Went to start running again. Got shingles.

At least, that's what my doctor told me.

Stress can contribute to shingles but this is some paranoid stuff right here.

I've only had 1 other concussion and it ended in shingles. I have no other experience related to concussion recovery.

Ergo I hope I don't get it again.

Sounds extremely irrational... but at the same time, the last time I ate chipotle I was sick for an entire weekend, so I avoid chipotle for fear of it happening again, so I guess that's similar?

I was on Facebook a few minutes ago, and saw a post from a girl I knew well in HS that graduated a year after me. She thought she might have a kidney stone, so she went to get a CT done. Instead, she found out she has Stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her lungs, liver, and spine. I felt myself blanching as I was reading that--she has three kids. She seems to have the right attitude, but that is one of those things that just absolutely stops you in your tracks. Seeing H.S. classmates get sick is tremendously upsetting, because it's a harsh reminder of my own mortality.

Ugh....just feel awful for her.

Yep. The best friend of a friend of mine just got word that his right lung had basically become one giant tumor and is pushing against his heart. Awful.

Spent the day at my MILs, whom I mentioned earlier, as it's my wife's birthday today. She is convinced, for good reason, that it is the last one they'll spend together.

Was a nice day though. We brought our dog with which always brightens the mood, and once her Mom fully woke up and shook off the effects of some of the drugs it was a nice afternoon.

Is there anything worse than a cut/scrape on a knuckle? I was carrying stuff most of the day yesterday up and down stairs. Bashed my right thumb knuckle and middle finger, middle knuckle. It's going to take forever for these to heal.

On my right hand, I currently have 10 cuts on various knuckles and one on the webbing near my thumb. I didn't do anything to cut them. They just happen in the cold weather. Fun.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this post, but in light of the last five posts or so, it gave me a much-needed chuckle

Same, mainly because he opened with a question pretty clearly answered by that string of posts before it.

Yes, there are things worse than a cut on a knuckle...
