Try the peroxide in the ears and deep gargle with some saturated salt water.

Completely agree. I'm willing to try some things, but that was useless the only time I tried it. It just made my head feel weird for several hours.

When it comes to congestion, Mucinex D is the only thing that has ever worked for me, to the point where it at least makes me functional. I felt cruddy when I woke up, but was raring to go by the time I got to work 2 hours later.

This is a random one...but I think I am chewing the inside of my cheeks while I'm sleeping. I don't think I do it *too* much during the day, but I am assuming it is brought on by work stress. The inside of my cheeks are nasty, with lesions where I've been doing that. I've read that it is mostly harmless, but long-term damage could increase the risk of oral cancer because of the tissue involved.

The only cure I saw was to wear a mouthguard and really don't want to do that :(

Mouth guard versus cancer should be a layup of a decision.

I got a mouthguard lat year and it took a week or so to get used to it, but it had really helped me from grinding my teeth and the resultant headaches.

Suck it up, buttercup.

If I have hand pain which resembles carpal tunnel, does one bring that up to a PCP? Or someone else?

You can mention it to your PCP, but personally, I'd go to hand specialist.

Was looking up orthopedic specialists in my area. Will probably go to one of them based off a recommendation from a friend. Maxed out my deductible this year already, so figure I'll get all my ailments figured out.

If you are lucky enough to be on a plan where you don't need a referral, go straight to a hand specialist.

When it comes to congestion...
High-octane, homemade ginger beer is really good for this, too. It's also a great probiotic drink.

I have been sort of partially sick for over two months now. It's a weird respiratory thing, that's marked by chronic shortness of breath and a weak non-productive cough. I can't take a deep breath or breathe rapidly without triggering a cough; it's as if the mixture of the air I'm taking in isn't rich enough in oxygen. I went to lunch the other day and walked up four flights of stairs to get back to my car and when I got to the top I thought I was going into respiratory arrest. But there are no other symptoms of anything. When it started, both of the dogs also suffered prolonged coughing fits, so I just presumed we encountered some weird bacteria type thing.

Well, yesterday morning I suddenly got chills and shakes while I was out at the store. Came home, and within around an hour, I had a fever of 102-103 (F). Spent the afternoon on the couch wrapped in a fleece blanket. Then, just as suddenly, around four or five hours later the fever was just gone. And I'm back to just having weak breath and a cough.

WTF?

Honestly, a bit surprised that people did real research, and a little bummed no one went with amyloidosis or lupus.

I always have this worry that the blood disorder I have is going to turn into Leukemia.

My g/f working on the Leukemia ward at UPMC Shady side doesn't help cause she sees how awful it is. She always demands to see my blood work numbers after I go to the doctors to have blood taken out.

Those don't make you cough, duh.

You could have also picked up a case of tuberculosis from all of the homeless people crawling around San Francisco.
