Blackjack's Thread of Illness and Ailments

Postby tifosi77 » Wed Feb 20, 2019 12:33 pm

Pubescent Shad had a very embarrassing moment related to this step in the physical about 23 years ago or so. Let's just say, attractive female physician + all of my brainpower on NOT getting..aroused = The small part of my brain that was still open stupidly misheard "caw" instead of "cough". Ya know...like a crow.
While I never made any bird chirps, my last Dr before we moved to SF was a tall, attractive blonde who could've passed for a pro beach volleyball player. She is the only woman not called Mrs Tif to have handled my junk since 2004, and it was super awkward. So I, too, know this unique suffering, Brother Shaf.

The nurse that aided my vasectomy was like a 13 out of 10. I don’t think there is an adjective to describe how I felt during the procedure

Mine may have been a 13/10 back in 1940. Hard to tell.

Getting a compliment on pubic shaving from another man was probably the oddest part.

I've had shoulder pain (out of nowhere, and 99% of the pain is when I raise my arm above my head or let it droop) for a few months now, and decided to finally just go to a specialist. X-rays were done, but showed nothing wrong, and the doc thinks it could be a pinched nerve in my neck. So, I get to spend 80ish minutes in an MRI machine in a few weeks for scans of both my neck/spine and shoulder.

He also recommended physical therapy. This could probably go in the gear grinding thread, but my co-pay if I use a Penn doctor would be $20/visit; $50/visit for in-network, non-Penn. For as large as Penn's network is, they don't give two **** about opening anything outside of UCity or the main line. So now I've got to basically cut out of work during the day for an hour or so to do PT.

That’s new to me.

Second opinion says it’s definitely not that, and instead should see an ophthalmologist.

Woof. Just woke up on the couch. Fell asleep around 8. Felt a fever coming on. I think it broke. I'm soaked. Fun stuff.

I've had a sinus infection for a few days now. My ears just popped for the first time since like Thursday. Now I can't hear our of my right ear.

This is the second time I’ve come down with a sore throat/cold and starting taking Emergen-C daily, and the second time that the worst of it was cut down in time significantly. I now swear by this stuff.

I haven’t noticed any weird color changing with the Emergen-C. Do you stick to one packet per day? I haven’t gone past it because there’s only so much vitamin C your body can handle before you just urinate the rest out.

I had two MRIs done last weekend, and am just now receiving the results. My doctor hasn't responded yet, but a physician's assistant has telling me the results. That's great, how about one of you guys actually tells me what I should be doing about it?

I had the same issue with some blood work. I had to call them before they responded. At first it was a PA giving me info but finally, the doc emailed me through MyUPMC account. Everything was normal, but they still didn't offer a follow up for further testing/evaluation. Time to call a specialist.
