My wife gets on me all the time to go. I’ve had no issues thankfully. I brush twice a day, but hardly ever floss.

When I do go back I’ll probably be like put me under.

Woke up Thursday with some mild dental pain on the left side of my mouth that got worse throughout the day. Woke up Friday with much worse dental pain and a red dot on my chin that looked like an infected ingrown hair; made a dentist appointment for Monday. Went to floss Friday evening and got a stabbing pain reminiscent of when the Navy butchers oral surgeons started removing one of my wisdom teeth without painkillers, found a dentist that would take me Saturday morning. Wake up Saturday morning and the infected ingrown hair looks worse and dental pain is worse. Dentist does x-rays and says there is absolutely nothing wrong with my mouth. No cavities, no abscess, nada, so I go home confused. Wake up Sunday and my dental pain that exists for no reason still exists and my infected ingrown hair has spread. Weird. Wake up Monday, cancel the original dentist appointment that is no longer needed, face looks much worse as now it looks like I have a rash of infected ingrown facial hairs. Couple hours later and our son's OT is like "it kinda looks like it might be shingles", so I go to urgent care, where they diagnose me with **** shingles. On my **** face. In my **** mouth. **** shingles. My head looks like **** Quasimodo's turned upside down. Extreme swelling. The pain is incredible. No matter what I take or how much of it, there is always dull, aching pain mixed with the occasional "wisdom teeth removal with no painkillers" stabbing pain. And now this morning I wake up with pain on the outside of my ear, my temple, and the space in-between, which has me freaking out about ocular shingles, potential blindness, Ramsay Hunt syndrome and potential facial paralysis. WHAT THE **** ****. I'm sure stress and anxiety is gonna help this go away quickly.

Damn dude, really sorry to hear that. Shingles are no joke, hopefully they resolve sooner rather than later. Did they give you anything?

That sound's awful, and makes me think of the commercial I see all the time that goes "Shingles doesn't care!"

DD, maybe in the future you should try not getting shingles. That'd have solved your problem.

But yeah, good luck with things. That sounds delightful.

My wife had a bout with shingles a few years ago… it wasn’t a fun ride. Best of luck. Hopefully they give you something to deal with the pain.

I feel incredibly lucky that my bout with shingles was only on my neck and I thought it was razor burn at first. That sounds awful.

Valtrex to help speed up the process, but nothing for the pain. Guess we'll find out how much ibuprofen and acetaminophen is too much. RIP liver. I see an ophthalmologist is like an hour. Hopefully they don't tell me to prepare for going blind. Terrified I passed this to our four month old before knowing it was shingles.

My aunt had a really bad case of shingles a while ago. I think I'm going to make an appointment for the shingles vaccine.... :?

Ophthalmologist (visually) cleared me from having shingles in either of the nerve systems that would permanently impact vision or cause Ramsay Hunt syndrome, so that's something I guess. The pain is honestly hard to describe. It feels kinda like Mike Tyson beat the **** out of me like a month ago. My face itches and is dry, but the blisters don't really hurt. The pain is like deep internal constant annoying aching pain and then out of the blue you get stabbed in the face once an hour.

What's the diagnoses? You don't want to take that very long.

Correct, it's for the shingles. 10 days worth. At that point the rash should be clear and any continuing pain will likely have to be treated by a pain management doctor. Two doses in and the Oxy is already making me so god damn itchy. Fun!

Went to the eye doctor yesterday cause it has been over a year since the last time and they have been spamming me to go. Go in do the normal stuff, my rx changed a bit ...you don't have any major eye issues, but then was told that in the next couple years I may end up needing bifocals instead of regular everyday glasses like I have now. Like I'm 40....not 50 or 60 WTF????. My wife got a good chuckle out of that when I told her.
