Yeah bud, see a therapist. And yes, you might not find the right one right away. But you are carrying a large, large burden right now, and you can't be strong and unaffected 100% of the time.

one of our best friends, a woman in her 40s had a stroke last week. they operated on her brain that night and successfully removed the clot. she was on a vent for 2 days but is now conscious but weak. her parents (she's unmarried and lives alone) flew in last night from Spokane and have the ability to stay for at least 3 weeks. hopefully we'll get an update from them today about the extent of the damage and prognosis for recovery. I know the docs are saying a few days in the hospital and then off to a rehab facility.
I'm hopeful for a full recovery because even though all strokes are different, I have another friend who was about the same age when she had a stroke and she made a full recovery, enough to resume her job and her job is a pretty physical one: she's a roadie. guitar tech to be exact. mostly smaller acts now but worked for The Dixie Chicks for years.

While driving today, my left side peripheral vision went wavy/blurred like looking through heat waves coming off the road. I pulled off the road and grabbed a bite and googled it while eating.
Best I can find is Ocular Migraine. And as described in the search it went away within about 20 minutes. Now a dull headache on the right side.
If I don’t post again, it wasn’t an Ocular Migraine.

I get ocular migraines occasionally. Maybe one a year. Mine aren’t as much blurry as they are like I’m seeing stars. A big dose of nausea comes along with it. It’s a coin flip on whether I puke or not. I usually sleep them off with like a 3 hour nap.

This was a first for me and had me a little nervous at first.

I went to stretch to stay onside during my ice hockey game tonight and did the splits. Pretty sure I tore myself a new one.

Have any of yinz ever dealt with quad issues? I can't pinpoint when it happened or why it hurts, but my quads have been super tender/sore for the last few days. The weird thing is, I went for a five mile run yesterday and it didn't hurt at all, which makes sense since running doesn't really work my quads. I haven't done any strength training either, but not sure when I would have pulled it or something.

I totally read that as "squad" and thought your friends hurt your feelings for not wanting to hang out with you. Then I got to the part about running.
Sorry I can't help with your actual problem.

I was really sore after playing Stonewall, even though we rode in carts. Then I remembered that my playing partners that were spraying drives everywhere were often lost in the tall grass on top of big **** hills, and I kept walking up to help them look for their ball. Maybe something similar to that, shaf?

Hmm, trying to think if I've done any physical activity out of the norm lately. I've been running for a decade and never had an issue.

Sht. It just hit me.
Last Thursday, it was parents vs players scrimmage night for my daughters team. I played midfield for 45 minutes straight, and was definitely doing a lot of movements that I don't normally do. That's when it started...

I've had a bit of a cough since Halloween weekend. Last week I was absolutely miserable (took a covid test, it was negative). Started feeling better late last week, and now I'm great except first thing in the morning, and late at night. Been coughing up white, opaque phlegm while in the shower in the morning. Literally looks like a small piece of chewed up bubble gum. It's gross.
I have a conference that I'm heading to next week. I have to give a talk and present a poster. I really don't want to be coughing in a group of people at the moment. Snagged a doctors appointment at lunchtime. Hopefully they'll give me some prednisone or an antibiotic if it's a bacterial infection to clear it up before next week.

I have the same thing going on now. Feels like a sinus infection. I get one a year and haven’t had one yet.

Got prescription for prednisone to try and hurry things along with clearing it out, and was told to get some OTC allergy meds and give them a go. Didn't want to prescribe an antibiotic as there was no sign of sinus infection other than being a little inflamed in my nose and some pressure. Both of which can be caused by allergies.
I've never taken allergy meds before. My brief searching online is that everyone seems to have one they like and it works well for them. No real winner as far as "this is the best allergy medicine to take". My wife had xyzal at home, so I took it. We'll see.

I’m an Allegra guy. I’ve heard Xyzal is good. Flonase is the real MVP when it comes to allergy relief.

As mentioned in the other thread I was recommended for carpal tunnel surgery for both hands. I have a consult with Dr Lance Brunton in Irwin, apparently one of the few hand specialists not in UPMC. Has anyone had the procedure done? I understand it's a small incision almost like arthroscopic, and not the traditional way of doing it.

I have no input for your questions, but am curious if they are going to do both surgeries at the same time or do one then after recovery do the second one.

Wouldn't that be akin to operating on both eyes at the same time?I have no input for your questions, but am curious if they are going to do both surgeries at the same time or do one then after recovery do the second one.

I had literally never heard of Xyzal until three days ago, when it was a clue in the NYT crossword on Sunday. This is the second time I've seen it.I’m an Allegra guy. I’ve heard Xyzal is good. Flonase is the real MVP when it comes to allergy relief.

A buddy recommended this doctor and said he did 1, recovered for 6 weeks, and did the second one and recovered for another 6 weeks.I have no input for your questions, but am curious if they are going to do both surgeries at the same time or do one then after recovery do the second one.
Im fine with doing it either way, but if it's going to cost double then I'm doing them both in one sitting.
Blackjack's Thread of Illness and Ailments
So if you do both at the same time, would you have the ability to engage in... uh... repetitive hand motions during the healing process?
