No, but I could certainly ask my wife to uh, do that?So if you do both at the same time, would you have the ability to engage in... uh... repetitive hand motions during the healing process?

You certainly could. But I know from my married friends that wives don't always say "yes." (Or barely ever say "yes," which is was a major contributing factor as to why some of those friends are now divorced.)

My tinnitus has been louder the last few days. Wondering if this is permanent, which would suck.

@robbiestoupe: Not sure how I didn't know this before, but I read today that ibuprofen can cause or make tinnitus worse. Nobody can say how high the dose needs to be to cause issues, but I take 200-400mg almost daily, and have for years. So I wonder if part of my issue is self-inflicted.

Interesting. I only take ibuprofen when needed, like headaches and other lingering pains. So very rarely. I think I mentioned before that my tinnitus most likely came from a head injury when I was very young@robbiestoupe: Not sure how I didn't know this before, but I read today that ibuprofen can cause or make tinnitus worse. You did, yes. I'm just surprised that there's still no solid treatment for this. I feel for anyone who has it worse than this, because this is bad enough. I have completely forgotten what silence actually sounds like.

(fellow tinnitus sufferer here, from the military, but mine is pretty low grade)

That's one of my favorite covers of all time. Also, since you mentioned it, I believe that tinnitus is the most common ailment in the military.

I just sleep with a fan at night, year-round, and that's enough to put mine down. Sucks when I forget to bring one to a hotel room, have to use a white noise app instead.

I do, too, but not for the sound. I have never been a good sleeper, so I don't know if I really need to do anything at night. I tried some other brown noise not too long ago, but didn't notice a difference. I just downloaded an app that has many different types of sounds on it, and may roll through them today to see which one masks the tinnitus the best and see about using it tonight when I go to sleep.

Hard to say how severe mine is, but I’ve had it pretty much all my life so I only notice it when I think about it. My wife is the one that needs the sound machine, I’m perfectly fine without it

Might be worth looking into the effects of long-term NSAID use. There's definitely some things that gave me pause.@robbiestoupe: Not sure how I didn't know this before, but I read today that ibuprofen can cause or make tinnitus worse. My uncle's doctor got his blood work back and told him to go to the ER immediately, as his levels were not good, and he was looking anemic. ER runs more tests, and he's stable, but the numbers are low. He had to schedule a marrow biopsy to find out what's going on, but now he thinks this is basically it - worried that it's the same leukemia that my grandfather had, and died from a month after diagnosis. Hope it's not, but this wasn't the kind of news I wanted to hear just before the holidays (or ever).

Well, the doc he saw today thinks it's leukemia. He was admitted, and will have the biopsy this weekend to confirm. In true fashion - he always thinks the worst - he asked if it was a death sentence. Doc said no, and I hope that winds up being the case.
As usual, **** cancer.

That's awful. Sorry man. My wife used to work in the Leukemia ward...it's a tough disease, but it can be beaten. Hopefully they caught it early.Well, the doc he saw today thinks it's leukemia. He hadn't been feeling good for a couple of months, and was stubborn about going to the doctor, so I hope that doesn't bite him.

So, my brother's multiple myeloma came out of remission after about five uneventful years. And it's back with a vengeance. He is older than me (he's 53 from my dad's first marriage, I'm 38 from my dad's third marriage ) We've gotten MUCH closer over the last 12 years or so... Didn't see him much when I was younger with him being out of state.
Booking a flight to Dallas to visit him, and knowing full well it might be the last time I see him alive. Pretty much 2 months to 2 years at this point. Really sucks. Grateful that we've gotten so much closer but makes this much harder.
